Hi,

My Skybox is dead and I'm no techi so will need a bit of help; So far from what I've read its doable, but the only sticky point is my laptop is a recent model and therefore doesn't have VGA input, is there a way I can maybe use a HDMI instead?
 
hi i get as far as this part Switch on the power to the box. Within a few seconds you should see "Done then nothing happens i get set stb memory error any ideas what i am doing wrong plz
 
If using a laptop then check you are on correct com port.
If your box is showing a dim red LED and a feint figure 8 then you have less than 1% chance of reviving it.
Ensure you are using the correct erom upgrade tool plus correct firmware for your box series.

My box stuck in boot loop after plugin LNB/coaxial cable, wondering this will fix it or not...Googled a while but dint found any similar problem with solution.
 
Hi all. Can i clarify a little about the lead I am supposed to use.

I have bought a 'STARTECH USB to RS232 Serial Null modem adaptor cable' using an FTDI FT232R chipset but I get the reply back from the Erom download "set sub memory error"

Is this because the lead isn't correct (despite paying £20 for it)

Can anyone put a link to the correct lead to use if the one I am using is incorrect ?

THANKS . I have no lights on the lcd display i have plugged the f3 box into a xp desktop with com ports.The software i have is for a f3 I start up the software then Switch on the power to the box. Within a few seconds i see the word done at the bottom i stb memory error so i think i think the box has see the end of its life
 
Skybox f3 has internal power source---you can buy replacement on e-bay or with a bit of adaption purchase a cheap s11 psu and use that.
At present you are the proud owner of a doorstop.

Thank you Reaper. Ill shall get that and hope i get past the dreaded set stb memory error message !

UPDATE.

Approx 15 minutes after purchasing the above lead suggested by reaper, the download began working, Adjusting the port transfer rates as suggested in the first post triggered that.

Ill update further.

UPDATE 2.

Working box. It seems adjusting the rates of transfer may have had something to do with the connection.

I have 2 libertview f5s which are stuck on loop after updating the channel list. it loads to 100% then continues looping. is that indicative of a clone?

i attempted to use this cable from ebay: 1.8M USB to RS232 Serial 9pin DB9 Female Converter Adapter Cable Openbox Skybox

but struggling to make it work

Just to add... I checked all the com port and it keeps staying on "Syncronizing STBs"... have also tried multiple firmwares (Openbox/Skybox etc) and different PSU, and continues to loop from 100% (no 97% as some people have experienced)

Dont know where I am going wrong

any help is much appreciated
 
my f3 stuck at L100 after L090 , L095 (several times loop at 95 then stops at L100).
tried all firmware in skybox.cc. mine is original box.

will try the sb.abs later and see how it goes.
