Hi martg did you try the famous hairdryer trick to dry it out?

If you buy very cheap cables from ebay they tend not to work , also a lot of people are complaining there's isn't working but as I found out it isn't simply plug and play you have to Install the drivers for the cable manually by choosing the file that should come with the cable

If you use files from skybox and get "mismatch" then it's a clone.

Not having much luck here. Firmware downloads fine but when it gets to the burning stage it sits for a few secs and then reports a ‘burning flash is failed’ error. Tried different PCs etc but no joy. Must be the box as it downloads fine and I guess the burning stage is under the box control??

1st post. having tried an unsuccessful channel update I now have a dead box stuck on load. Luckily I have a serial port on my laptop and appropriate cable so should be able to follow these instructions. Will let you guys know how i get on :)

HI,

my F5S looks completely dead - nothing on the display at all. Tried a couple of different power supplies, no joy. Tried the firmware update via RS232 anyway, at the point where it says to reset the box i get "done" but then after a few seconds i get the STB mem error. Is the fact that the box has no display at all a sure sign that it is completely dead?? ie no Lxxx comes up on the display,
