Recover Dead Skybox Flash Using Serial RS232 Null modem Cable

I bricked my box after updating a channel list and now its stuck on load, just wanted to know if the cable in the link below would work as I don't have a desktop PC. Thanks!

this is easy to do you will need usb to male rs232 cable then a serial null modem 9pin female to female then join together, download rs232 upgrade from ************* ,always the latest one{ top one}.
the female cable should be a reversed wired female to female on the high st under £2.00 took me a few go,s got there in the end. good luck

This is an alternative firmware upgrade for the skybox F5, if like me, running official firmware you get file mismatch error. You may find that this is the correct firmware for you box. Thanks to HiTech

what do i need to get it to fit into the openbox?

Can someone please give me updated link to download clone firmware for skybox f5s , I had installed firmware available at skyboxcc but after loading its going into continuous booting loop.

Original issue was box was stuck at load , bought cable from ebay as advised in this thread all of that works but box now goes into loop and I am PRESUMING MY BOX WOULD BE A CLONE hence need different firmware.

hddvbsw website has been shutdown it seems.

I purchased this lead Startech-1-Port-Modem-Serial-Adapter (I cant post links) it was from amazon for £15.64
Drivers installed fine (Win 7 64 bit), un-bricked my F5s box no problem thanks to the helpful guide.
