Recover Dead Skybox Flash Using Serial RS232 Null modem Cable

Hi all I'm not getting the E001 error is just the Dim 8 i was just hoping this way could solve my problem, if anyone has a solution to fix the Dim 8 problem it would be greatly appercated if someone could share that knowledge thank :)

The 15 hole port on the laptop is for connecting an external monitor and is not a serial R232 port.You will need a null modem cable and a usb adapter to connect to the box.Don't worry about asking questions,we all learnt the same way.

Nope. The 15 pin connector is for an external monitor.

HI,yes that is the cable you need.What version of windows do you have as the description says Win XP and you need to download drivers for Win Vista.I am sure there is a lead available that has drivers for win 7.I will see if I can find the listing.

OK found it.This one has downloadable drivers plus some on a CD item no.150997907520 .you will also need this Item no. 111228679655 which is the null modem cable.I t works out cheaper as well.

Have you actually tried that cheap adapter yourself, as many members have had no luck with those cheaper ones?

This one is known to work (with the Prolific PL2303HXD Revision D chipset):-

or a cheaper, all-in-one lead that is known to work (this one doesn't need a seperate null modem cable):-

No Kremmen,ive not used the usb version as I have A R232 port on my laptop.The second one looks like it will do the job as its compatible with all versions of Windows.

Both of the adapters in my link above say they work with Windows 8. So they should work with 8.1 also.
