Recover Dead Skybox Flash Using Serial RS232 Null modem Cable

Nite two, tried for another 3 hours
Tried fireware from last two posts,same result with all three,downloads fine seems to flash fine.turn box on same problem loads to 093 then get error code E0001.this box is not wanting to play ball think im going to need to buy new one or pay for fix :(

Any theories why this aint happening for me.tried every firmware on this thread ? Could it be the emrom flash file ? My null cable ?

The 15 pin VGA connector is for video output only. It cannot be converted for serial output.

hi guys hope this helps my box was dead bought a cable as described then realised my tower didn't have a serial port luckily I found a serial card in my junk drawer and the motherboard had a serial connector
fitted the card and cable and used the file from the skybox website worked a treat thanks to techkings if I can help let me know

Hi There, I am also having trouble upgrading my f5s with the firmware from the skybox.cc site (I have tried the latest and the second latest) but I cannot get past the 'Set stb memory error' message when attempting the upgrade.
What version of STB EROM upgrade program should I be using?

Is your box failing to boot up with the current firmware? if you are simply upgrading this is easier done through USB and using the menu options. Only one bit of advice I would offer on this is to look at current version and upgrade to next one above that first and then work your way up to most recent this sorts file mismatch error assuming off course you are upgrading with correct firmware.
