Hi, new to this so be easy on me lol. I have just got my hands on a brand F5S box there plugged it in and it wont move past LOAD which is displaying on the box. now i've had a brave lot of these boxes and not one bit of problem have I had. Can anyone steer me onto the right road on the problem please!.

Although most cables are full handshaking anyway, it's not neccessary. Any null modem cable with just pins 2-3, 3-2, & 5-5 connected will do.

...Got through the instructions, selected file eromclient.abs
Connect box and turn on but when I press next it just tells me "wrong File"...

You need to download a firmware for your box first. Then, when you browse for the file, you need to select the firmware that you downloaded, not the eromclient.abs file.

I am also getting the "wrong file" message.can anyone tell me where to get the right one?Ihave a skybox f5s.many thanks

If you can find someone who has an older pc with a 9 pin serial port, then that would be the best solution.

There are USB to serial adapters available on Ebay, but they don't always seem to work.

If you have a genuine box, you can download the firmware from here:-

I'm not sure of the website for clones. If you still have the outer box for your F5s, you can scan the QR code with a smartphone & see which website it directs you to.

I tried to upgrade the Skybox F5 through the null midem cable, I used STB EROM and SKYBOX F5 SOFTWARES from that sites but after upgrade it writes L093 and then E001. Is there any other way to fix it?

Just a little Note of a problem I had doing this. My box used to come up file mismatch but it was genuine. I had to download the firmware that was from early 2013 from the official site and then after it was up and running again flash to the newest. Might be something to try if your box throws up a mismatch error before flashing non genuine firmware

success.came on this site last week with a weak power light and the figure 8 (skyboxfs5).got a null cable for £2 from ebuyer, first attempts i was getting wrong file message.managed to find the right file(early 2013) as posted earlier, then I was getting "reset target" message.kept unplugging and plugging the box back in,then got "stb memory error"but stuck with it,on/off,on/off(30 seconds between each one).finally it started to download then asked me if i wanted too burn.success.thanks for everyones help.

Glad you got it sorted mate, it is always daunting at first, but once you'v done it once, you want your box to break down so you can do it again lol

Hi guys,
Im pulling my hair out with this one.
Ive tried to flash my frozen f5s skybox. The message i get is "wrong file", so im guessing i have a clone box yes?
I have downloaded the firmware for the clonebox, but my pc doesnt recognise what to open it with. Any help what i need to download here to read the file?

Any help appreciated, lost without the tv.
