Recover Dead Skybox Flash Using Serial RS232 Null modem Cable

Hi all I have 2 f5 boxes that have been bricked 1 off them I have flashed sb.abs I now get an the e001 error I have tried just about every firmware and loaders possible and still not having any luck i am getting the set stb memory error.....any suggestions...or should I bin them.

The box that now has the error has been flashed with a com port on an old computer and flashed with a usb com port

a nice step by step from someone who knows how to do this would be handy instead of hundreds of posts asking how to do it.
 
My sky box has bricked

hi i scanned for new channels and then it just stopped and died on me, wouldnt come back on. thought it was PSU, replaced that, still never came back on. tried reflashing used various softwares, none of which seem to work. the box defo has power, have tested with a electric screwdriver and the light comes on when i plug in the ethernet cable.

have used all softwares on this site as well as from YoJia. first it kept saying wrong file, tried clone software and now it just says synchronising STBs....please reset target. when i turn the switch on nothing happens, have tried various different techniques when pressing next and turning power switch on. no luck

Please help.. would be much appreciated

Hi, first post, got my brand new skybox f5s today and tried to copy over a .dbs file and .cfg file via usb, said it went ok but when I exited all the way back there was no channel list, suppose I should have known then there was something wrong but I hit the standby button to restart the box, when I started the box again I now get the dreaded LoAd on the display, from reading on here I see that I need a null modem cable and download the software on the first page of this post. As the f5s is the latest skybox out will the software work for it, any suggestions would be great as I really don't have a clue!
 
its official. ive been trying this for about 3 hours read through the posts about 30 times and cant get it to work.

just keep getting stb memory error. tried running config.bat first (havnt got a clue how to do that) tried different combinations of turning on/pressing next , firewalls off.

everything"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just have to except I don't have a clue what im doing, either that or the box is foooooked.

probably the first!!

I am trying to flash my skybox f6 using a rs 232 usb cable.
The stb erom upgrader says

Synchronizing stb's
please reset target

Opening serial port is failed.
Click back to try again.


Im sure that i have used the right com port. Can somebody help me please and tell me where the problem is and how to solve this .

Just received a new Skybox F5S, turned it on for the first time and got the load error.

Bought from a seller on a well known auction site, I did not purchase any gifts. Listing indicated that (for free channels) out of the box it was "fully set up with a full channel list."

I don't know if I should return it or get a null modem cable and recover it myself, what would you do?
 
Also purchased F5S recently and got repeated load errors upon connection. Not sure whether this fixed the prob but after adjusting LNB to get better quality signal the box then loaded correctly.
 
No Channel - simply means you need to identify the correct Satellite (28.2 for Sky) and run a Blind Channel scan.

I've used the procedure from Post #1 on a few F5S now and it DOES work - port speed settings normally only need checking once and Powering on at the correct time.

What I have found is sometimes it takes 4 or 5 times repeating the full process to get it to work!

Likewise, sometimes the Bootloader option needs turning on but not all ways ???

Needs some time and patience.

Oh yes, if someone says the box is ready to run - IT SHOULD BE - contact the supplier...
 
Hey I'm having trouble with recovering my skybox f5s which is stuck on load and I'm using a
USB to RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable COM DB 9 Pin Lead . Every time I follow the steps , enter the correct file and press next to upgrade or data dump it always comes up as stb memory error . I've tried loads of diff methods to recover but no luck . Anyone know what's wrong ?
 
my f5 is stuck on on load and after reading the post about flashing it again it looks scary lol, but am sure my pc lastime didnt pick up my old kyptview a580 with the null
