Read post 1 and download the tool. Ensure you have a null rs232 serial cable and follow the instructions.

I spent hours last night pulling my f5 out of the icey grips of death (load error).

It didn't work for ages until I tried a different .abs file, it may be different to the ones listed in post 1 but need to check in more detail. I am sure the file name was different but in the end the loading process started and I am trying to remember and jot down everything I did for the next time this happens.

Don't give up as it would have been easy for me to do but at 2.30am I did it. I even had to buy an old Dell D830 laptop as my new laptop didn't have a serial port.

Worked a charm on one F5s, the weird problem now is everything loads, I get a picture which stays on then completely hangs after around 30 seconds. I cannot change channels or go to any menu's, I can unplug, restart and same happens. I have completed a factory reset, reflashed and gone to basics and exactly the same happens. I know its not my cabling or anything as I also have a Skybox M4 and it works perfectly when i do a swap around. To say I'm baffled is putting it mildly !!

Hi Guys,
just read through the 21 pages of this thread & used every single Tool & Software to get the 3 dead F3s working but I keep getting the same error 'set stb memory error'.
I have tried all the solutions provided(even turning off firewall).
Initially tried doing it via USB-RS232 but went & bought a Dell D610 Laptop with an RS232 port but still no joy.
Any help will be VERY gratefully appreciated.I know all three boxes cannot be faulty & I hope that someone out here will be able to help me out.

I was getting the same error, see post above your last post. Have also been in touch with the ebay seller from whom I purchased the box approx 2 weeks ago. After explaining the error message 'set stb memory error' they have informed by the box is 'knackered'. Thankfully they are sending out a replacement in my case.

I know what you mean, but I got 3 F3s with the same issue.I don't think all three are knackered!!!

There is only the red light, I was scanning the satélites when it when dead

hi need some help with skybox f5. after switching on loading stoped at 40 i have tried to turn of and on again now there is no screen or seems to be no power i have tried the intructions on this post when i try the original firmware is returns a message wrong file i have also tried the alternative file which allows me to press next only to be stopped on the synchronizing STBS please rest target! then "set STB memory error. click back to start again. any help would be greatly appreciated

I have downloaded Uart and cannot find a .bin file for the firmware any further assistance would be magic

i contacted my supplier of the box who said he doesn't know whats wrong so I am going to try the downloads I have seen on here any fingers crossed it will work

Got my F5 to reflash. I had to use the recovery kit off the skybox website. There seems to be two in the zip file. One worked and the other didn't.

Got through the instructions, selected file eromclient.abs
Connect box and turn on but when I press next it just tells me "wrong File"
I have tried putting the download in various different locations and then trying it but still says "wrong file" when I press next
Any idea what i am doing wrong

didnt work for my f5s just says synchronizing stbs please reset target.

Hi

Will this work on a Skybox A3
The box are supposed to be a legit one.
The box just reboots after it counted to 100.
Not sure why this happend but i had just sent back TPROG.dbs file to the box.

You need to download a firmware for your box first. Then, when you browse for the file, you need to select the firmware that you downloaded, not the eromclient.abs file.
