GigaBlue Dcolor GD1 Giga TV Mediaplayer Stick 4K PRO Review

Anyone's gd1 seem to lock up sometimes. then it goes off then comes on and it's a little glitchy for a while. ?..

Mines done it twice after it being switched off for a while 😕

Noticed it's slow at loading film covers in vod folders too. Firestick usually as them all opened. This opens a row at a time slowly

This will be down too hardware on device. E.g ram and processor. Make sure nothing is running in the background or overloaded with apps

I suppose that's why you buy your kit from reputable suppliers like WOS there is a reason why those are £75 or whatever

Sorry deleted my last post. After re reading your post do you mean a UK supplier for device's will include the UK catch-up apps that none UK suppliers won't?

I would have thought regardless of country purchased once registered in your country you would get regional apps.. unless it doesn't matter where you are if the company doesn't pay for it they won't get it.

Looking at posts about other android devices none provide all UK catch-up apps. Although all 4 seems to the main app not supported.

Proper android tv should know your in the UK and give access to those apps.

You should be able to get evreything from Google play. Except channel 4 player for some reason

Things like @urlsee is mentioning just don't happen

Yes so if it has support it should provide the apps available in the store for your country?

So paying £30+ from one place and £70+ from another for the same device shouldn't make a difference?

Just checking about buying from wos

There's obviously something wrong read urlsees comments this should never happen. But without comparing them side by side its difficult but I will suggest Chinese ones are copies @moshi has one from WOS he may be better to comment.

Wos does state Netflix 4K & Prime Video 4K certified as does AliExpress. Does that mean android certified to support UK apps? I guess that needs checking

Well @Theguru reported a issue to the factory owner for itvx genuine android tv boxes it updates are all via Google or the app dev.

The Dcolor GD1 is on the Android tv guide list as a certified device for Netflix and Amazon Prime.

From what I have been reading all of the UK catch up streaming apps are copyright protected so I would think that the manufacturers of devices probably have to apply for some sort of licensing to be able to have the official UK catch up apps install on their android TV OS.
I’m not sure that these cheaper devices that are not specifically aimed at any one market are going to be applying for these licenses. Cost if any and time may not be viable to them.

Netflix is 4k the app store is the same as on my phone. The message you get when trying to install UK streaming apps is about license issues .

As anyone got the gigablue one that can confirm these apps work..

I personally think there the same. Just ones been rebranded

@moshibeth does the UK streaming apps work on the wos gigablue ones?

Needed a reboot. Think it's pia. That use to hang up on the firestick too. Think it's slowing it down. Everything else is good. For £28 it's ok. If the gigablue ones £70 and it dues the same and doesn't let you use UK streaming apps. I would say I'm glad I only paid £28

I have done the best I can. I've posted pictures said what I've found and tried what I could.

Not sure what else I could add?

Get 400mb to the device too. My TV suggests it's running full 4k when watching 4k stuff. VLC says 4k

I doubt the Gigablue device will have the UK licences and definitely won’t have the official Channel 4 app.

No version of this would have bbc iplayer.

Supported devices | iPlayer help

Also, the ones for £70 from WOS are German imports rather than developed for the UK Market. Personally, I would either spend a bit extra and get the Shield tube version or get the Chromecast when it's on offer. Although even at £60, the Chromecast is better than this at £70 lol.

If it's super crap and you're never going to use it, just return it. Aliexpress do free returns for it.

Some links from amazon reviews posted earlier that also think of this stick as a waste of money

Is that running Android tv or mobile? I know that bbc iplayer does not show up in the google play store for the tivo stream for example. I never tried side loading the android tv version on it though.

I think, but am not 100% sure, the chromecast and shield may be the only certified android tv devices that have bbc iPlayer.

If you need All4, then the firestick or the Apple TV are your only options.

FWIW, a few people don’t like this stick.
