WooshBuild v3.00 + USB Cam Transfer Plugin + BaseBuild - OpenATV 5.1

(Reply last night went to moderation queue - apologies if this ends up being a double-post)

wooshman: All sorted now, thanks. Recordings to HDD, EPG & swap on MMC/TF (to make our collection of terms completely confusing!). I decided to call it a night and do cam, picons & a spot of channel-swapping today.

A couple of other things occurred to me: Is there a default username (or root?) & password for SSH/SCP access?
And along similar lines (just thinking a bit more remotely)... Is there authentication for FTP? And as far as streaming-out goes, is openwebif the thing I need to poke-at? (or is there an alernate/preferred mechanism).

Thanks again!

Rob.

[Rob's traditional] EDIT: Having tried to connect, I now know everything's root with no password. From what I can see I'm OK to passwd that account(?) (i.e. it won't break any scripts which rely on it being open). If I were to add new user(s), are there any gotchas to look out for? (usergroups to use/not use). Perhaps someone can point me at documentation for the underlying distribution so I'm not endlessly pestering with these questions(!). Cheese :)

As far as I am aware you could create new users / groups if you wanted to for FTP but can't see anything but a headache when files get deleted and your box won't boot.

Streaming is possible outside of your network by opening a couple of ports in the router but as it sounds like you know you will need to password etc before opening it to the internet as Kiddac will soon find your box and start sending messages to your screen, or worse still, someone else will find your box and stream from it and make your life hell.

Wooshman i did a full reset and followed your new V3, its great many thanks for a super job :)

Can i ask, how can i fully back up the box after i have added all my own bits and bobs (like kodidirect plusgings and other plugins) so i can just send to another box (getting one for the father in law) save having to start all over again.

o and how would i use the backup to send to new box?

Many thanks

Stick a USB stick in the front (empty is best)
Blue button
complete backup
green button (USB)
Wait 5 minutes until it says operation complete
Exit right back to main TV screen
Remove USB

Putting it back on a box
Inster USB in front
Blue button
Flash online / Local
Yellow button (local)
Yellow button (devices)
Find the USB stick and select it, it will then show you the zgemma.zip file. You should be able to select that, then press green button to flash.

To test the above and your backup, you can actually backup your own box and then restore it again using the backup. If it works everything will look the same, if it fails you will get an error somewhere in the process.

:-)

Great post Wooshbuild, that helps me out a lot.. I've another box to flash!!
When making a backup for use in another box, does your NLine copy over or do you install new line as per normal?

I assume then all required on a new box after a direct backup is to just initialise the USB device etc and put on a Nline?

BaseBuild is only on your box for a few minutes. It uses it to enable to Online lashing of WooshBuild. A complete backup makes an EXACT replica of your box and it's current state, line, the channel you are watching, volume, warts, spots and gray hairs.

It can be used on another box of the same type yes and will restore to how the original box was when you created the complete backup. BUT - If you are going to use that box somewhere else remember to remove your line from the box before plugging it in somewhere else as your line might get banned for multiple IP address uses. Removing your line is not covered in this thread, but the forum has more info about it than you can shake a stick at.

thanks for the quick reply ...if i was setting the other box up could i just follow the steps for adding a line and it would over write the line from the backup?

Yes you could do that coffee. If you create your complete backup on BBC1, the second box will start on BBC1 and not use the line, you can then use the new line and then change to Sky1 to test.

Anyone know how to fix bbc one issue, bbc two is now 101 and bbc one is now 115, any change? Tried auto boquets can't perform NIT scan anymore. Opens the updater and try's to download it but just crashes

So you tried to fix it but it is now worse?

There are now hundreds of posts about BBC1 and BBC2 after channel changes as they have effected lots of builds as it is not build related but the channel scanners.

If I were you I would remove the AutoBouquet E2 plugin and re-install it. This should give you the latest fix which is for England, Other areas have other channel numbers.

EDIT:

Removing and re-installing didn't do as expected I am afraid which is a pain. Have a read though this thread (or search it in the top right) looking for custom_swap
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because I am nice and for all users with BBC2 - Alba issues do the following.

Create a new file on your computer called: custom_swap.txt
and paste the following into it:

#####################################################
# requires a unix compatible editor like NotePad++
###################################################
# #
# AutoBouquets E2 - custom service swap manager #
# #
# service data can be found in autobouquets.csv #
# #
###################################################

# Based on SD region numbers in England
# Other nations must edit numbers to match their ones.
# Number for BBC One HD and BBC Two HD are different across the four nations

#swap local SD with HD.
115=101
141=102
178=103
227=104
171=105

# MUTV
453=418

#bbc four
143=116

225=118
263=119
268=120
269=123

#AMC from BT HD
276=192

#BT Sports/ESPN
427=413
457=417
433=414
458=426

#Racing UK
466=432

#news
570=503
518=512

624=614

#TV Record
856=801

#Daystar HD

#####################################################

Now save the file

Then using whatever method you want (FTP, Dream Explorer via USB stick, computer network) open the following location

usr/lib/enigma2/python/plugins/extensions/autobouquets/

and replace the existing file. Then do a full NIT scan using AutoBouquet E2.

This thread is not to tell you how to do it or what to do it with. Please don't ask.

I managed to do it like yours (edited mine in notepad+++ ftp' across) but realize now it should have only taken about 5 mins now all channels where they should be.The beauty of it all is i don't even watch bbc 1 or bbc 2

You can actually open the txt files using Wordpad and it will look lovely. Make your changes and then copy all the text. Close the file without saving. Now open the txt file in notepad and paste your text - it will now look lovely :-)

Save the file, job done.

wooshman: Thanks again; I've not added user(s) and auth yet, but I shall before I open any ports (I'm an OpenWRT nerd too, btw :)). I had a look at openwebif and must say I was quite disappointed. I mean, set-up is all graphical from the remote, and you'd already done it. There was not a single character of command-line geekery required. :nerd::) - on top of the general quality of your build, I was further impressed by openwebif - I'd never seen the project before, and it's fab - great feature set, intuitive, and functional.

Thankfully I've got a load of RPis to migrate from Wheezy to Jessie, so I'll get my CLI-fix :)

Cheers,

Rob.

Noooooooo

OpenWebif is nothing to do with me - it is standard with OpenATV. All I did really was set my box up how I wanted it and shared my image... that was version 1 of WooshBuild.

v3.01 was the game changer where you now flash all WooshBuilds from online instead of from stick. Oh and the USB cam importer.

I can't take credit for the skin, openwebif or most of it. I did a bit of coding and backing up.

i think people are mixing up firmware and build
woosh hasn't created anything. he took something and put it together in a nice package already to go for ease. thats why this is a build

firmware is something different

anyone one could do this, if they wanted to share their setup, but you seem to get alot of questions lol

taking nothing away from woosh, he has done a nice tidy build from what i have seen. but il stick to the DIY it myself

No confusion, I assure you. I'm new to sat, but I've been burning eeproms for waaaaaaaaay longer than I care to remember, and I know the score. I understand wooshman's efforts are chiefly in aggregating, configuring, packaging, and documenting; I'm just very impressed both with OpenATV, Kiddac's skin, and all the other project-work involved (as mentioned in my first post); AND wooshman's 'curated finished product'.

If the OpenATV folks were reponsible for openwebif being installed and preconfigured, more power to them; anyone else the same. I was just trying to thank wooshman for what seems to me to be a very good job in assembling what is the finished, tested-working, product. Specifically in the case of openwebif, for WooshBuild 3.02 being so neatly preconfigured - he might just as easily have stripped it out of his build and left us to it.

Anyway. I mightn't have articulated so clearly initially, but hopefully I've cleared things up. You can rest assured that I'm not new to open source/projects/gravy. :cheers:
