WooshBuild v3.00 + USB Cam Transfer Plugin + BaseBuild - OpenATV 5.1

Only issues I am having @ 9th April v3.02 of Wooshbuild.

1- The channel line up fine except bbc Alba on 102. I reloaded the autobouqets e2 plugin and then redownloaded the cross epg.
Think that's a issue elsewhere, not for Wooshamn to fix though?

2- noticed I get a few freeze ups on box which jam it totally versus an earlier build. Might be only affecting a few users though and not everyone.

Otherwise , this is spot on - wouldn't expect anything else though, as usual the build and setup guide is spot on

I'm experiencing the same as you today. Everything fine except BBC 2 HD is on 101 and BBC Alba on 102. Will leave it for now though til the channel changes settle down.

I am also experiencing some freezing that didn't occur on previous builds - spinning blue loading thing, usually lasts a few seconds before jumping to whatever you have selected.

What is your memory card or usb? What speed are they just incase they are slow and having a hard time and filling up the buffer

you still getting the hardlink to timeshift fail anniemay? did you initialize the device? that was my problem. And it didn't like doing that so had to re-flash and start again following step-by-step

still get that problem hardlink timeshift problem but when i try to intalise the sd card it only gose to 99 percent and then get error timed out all the time

Due to people using fake large USB sticks I have to ask if you bought it from ebay for a cheap price or did it cost in the region of £60+ ?

There is a post either in here or in the 2S WooshBuild thread which mentions initialising it on a PC using partition magic or something similar, have you tried that? You will need the ext3 or 4 format. The post is somewhere.

any know when recording with this image keep getting a pop up blue circle spinning in top left hand side every 5 mins how can i stop that only happens when recording is there something i can turn off in image

This normally indicates a slow USB device.

any one no y bbc 1 changed to 115

Why did BBC1 HD change to 115 is what you really mean. Because that is what sky wanted to do so they did it.

Sky have had a big channel move and are causing headaches to those who won't alter the required files for their box / image. You need to read back a few pages and find all the posts relating to swapping BBC1 HD as there are instructions and files.

Prominence. Get your channel further up the EPG translates to eyeballs on your channel (and crucially not on somebody else's).

BBC 'owns' 115/116 - after closing BBC Three they had a spare slot, so get your other channels shuffled up the order... Increased prominence for free.

Welcome back to the mad house wooshman!

You are right the line up change is causing a right pain to users of these dodgy boxes. How dare they LOL

Wooshman, set up another h2s box today on your 3.02 build. Followed all instructions to the letter, new sandisk cruzerfit 32gb (usb2.0)

After all setup and all working I went ahead to set up the auto timers, as the daily shows are a bit fiddly. Lots of crashing. Stuck with the blue circle spinning, not responsive and a hard reset meant the EPG was partially empty.

Redownload epg and continue on the setting up auto timers. Crash again - same circumstances.

Not or sure if this is a bug or if this info may help in finding out what the issue might be.

Thanks for the info Rich, Aren't you running a H2H if I remember rightly?

Nope, I remember you needed ABM as you wanted the M3U and it wasn't working on a previous build.

I'm a h2s. I tried your latest build this week., still got a back up of the 'other' build and might go back but have setup my brother and now father in law so wanted them as standard and easy to update as possible.

Other than this auto timer thing this seems to be spot on. The channel numbers being included is great and like the idea of updating on the box in future.

Got a a channel swap file in place which is working to get everything to the right place.

Hi guys I got this coming up quite frequently what does it mean? Thanks

Firstly it means please could you try and edit your photo so it is just a little bit smaller?

It means that you have been on the same channel longer than the 3 hours timeshift is set for. The message basically tells you it will deleted the last 3 hours timeshift and start again.

To increase the timespan to stop this happening:

Menu -> Setup -> Recordings & Timeshift -> Timeshift settings -> Timeshift buffer limit pin hours]

Increase that number. Be warned, the higher the number the more space is taken on your USB. A 3 hour timeshift on BBC1 HD could be 3 gig or more. The file gets deleted every time you change channel and a new one created, but if you are only using an 8gb usb stick you could run out of space.

Wooshman: You're a hacker after my own heart. Your work (and that of the others involved - kiddac(?)'s skin, etc.) is nothing short of beautiful. There are retail OOBEs which aren't as nice as your setup, so kudos and thanks indeed.

Install itself was smooth as glass, I just had a minor headache with hard drives - I had a 2TB Western Digital AVGP drive still in its bag I'd planned to stick in a caddy and use; alas I just got clicks of doom :( Next I found an old Samsung 250GB and got further, but had issues with swapfile (and boot after it eventually made one). Finally I cleared out an old Seagate 250GB and stuck it in my cadddy, and it was third time lucky :) Anyway, one thing I'm curious about - as I've read it'll aid HDD power management in standby - is how I might configure EPG (and whatever else, swap too I'd imagine?) to use microSD as opposed to the hard drive hung out of the back? I've had a search around but couldn't find much info on the business of having both a drive and a card configured simultaneously.

I'd be eternally grateful if someone could give me some (brief should do it, I'm not tech-shy :)) guidance on what I need to do.

Thanks again,

Rob.

EDIT: Maybe I've clocked it... Format as ext4, insert, boot, add it in Mount Manager, configure EPG/swap/whatever?

BINGO!

To move EPG, go into the CrossEPG settings from the Menu -> Setup page and select the SD from there
Timeshift & recordings: Menu -> Setup -> Recordings & Timeshift -> Timeshift location / Recordings -> location
Picons: Follow destructions for Picons and have them put on the SD.

I run HDD and SD - (I am sorry Micro SD card for those who get confused) and record and timeshift to HDD, the rest is SD (Micro)

The OOBE with BaseBuild is a current solution to the online flash and I haven't come up with a faster way yet. I don't think there is one other than have it pre-installed which won't happen unless I start selling boxes.

@wooshman: All sorted thanks, recording to HDD, EPG/swap on MMC/TF [just so the cat's amongst a full set of pigeons!]. I think I'll leave it there for tonight and do softcam, picons & some channel swapping tomorrow.

A couple of other questions occurred to me... Is there a default username (or root?) & password for SSH/SCP access?
...then thinking about access remoter-still... Is there authentication on FTP, and is openwebif the bit I need to poke at for streaming out? (or is there an alternate/preferred mechanism)

Thanks again!

(Reply last night went to moderation queue - apologies if this ends up being a double-post)

wooshman: All sorted now, thanks. Recordings to HDD, EPG & swap on MMC/TF (to make our collection of terms completely confusing!). I decided to call it a night and do cam, picons & a spot of channel-swapping today.

A couple of other things occurred to me: Is there a default username (or root?) & password for SSH/SCP access?
And along similar lines (just thinking a bit more remotely)... Is there authentication for FTP? And as far as streaming-out goes, is openwebif the thing I need to poke-at? (or is there an alernate/preferred mechanism).

Thanks again!

Rob.

[Rob's traditional] EDIT: Having tried to connect, I now know everything's root with no password. From what I can see I'm OK to passwd that account(?) (i.e. it won't break any scripts which rely on it being open). If I were to add new user(s), are there any gotchas to look out for? (usergroups to use/not use). Perhaps someone can point me at documentation for the underlying distribution so I'm not endlessly pestering with these questions(!). Cheese :)
