You can FTP the keys via FTP if you want to yes, the USB Cam importer does nothing special except starts the correct cam once it has copied your file. Ideal for new users.

You either don't have your USB stick plugged into the back or front of the box, or god forbid you tell me, you are trying to do it with a micro SD card.

using same usb stick i flashed your first file the v3.00. formatted usb stick and did your steps from step 2 to step 4 my usb stick is in back of reciever

For an upgrade you only need to go from Step 4 of the instructions. All the groundwork has been done.

So is the USB stick in the back formatted on widows? And then initialised in the box? Or is it just windows formatted?

By formatting the stick you have wiped any data you had on it off. Settings backups, recordings.

If you can tell me what state your USB stick is in I can help you upgrade. Don't do anymore to the stick just yet.

hey so i tried this just now and used 3.01 build. all goes well till i transfer my line over and there seems to be an issue with the installed lined. i activate softcam and throw the file in to Var/Keys and activate ccam2.3. channels take forever to load and when they do only stay on for a few seconds before i get a blank screen again. is this a build issue or a box issue (considering i used FTP for the line)

update and apoloigies : bad line thats all. tried another line which is working perfectly fine. so box and build are good! (then again havnt tried it with this new power adapter provided)

Delete you line and use the cam importer to do it automatically and it starts the cam for you.

It isn't a build issue I am afraid or if it is you are the first to bring it up.

You also had a problem in post #197 where the box was lagging with boot stuck on the front display.

With two different images v3.00 and 3.01 it is not looking so good for your box.

To rule everything out though it may be worth trying sucmnsee's vix image with the same setup you have now, same USB, same line etc.

The cam importer normally sets the cam to 1.38r setting.
I have never had an issue using that so it may solve your problem or try setting it manually if your setting saved it to 2.3 ?

hi folks,

just started the install and have had an issue wiht usb stick......when doing intialise 128gb usb stick (rear port) i get the error "intiialising storage device Error: timeout elapsed, sorry".......Any ideas beofre i continue with install..

With a quick google this does occur from time to time and there are various ways to solve it and not build related.

My first thing to say will be you can continue the install but timeshift and recording will be unavailable and you could end up with a timeshift error message when you change channel - but can be sorted by turning off timeshift.

My immediate solution will be to use a different USB stick (even 8gb) for the time being so you can continue without any problems and then we can solve your initialise problem using another thread.

Partition magic is an option if you are using a PC where you can format the drive to ext3 / 4 which should then work in the box.
