Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

sometimes they will do that charge you then refund next months , we just let out contract end and signed up for another 18 months. ended up same price as old contract but no free sim card that we never used anyway yes I know it will go up within the 18 months but will see what happens then.
Yeah been with VM since telewest days and they nearly always mess up the billing if you have promo discounts running , numerous times I was charged full price then nothing the next month, but it's so time consuming.

After most of the day explaining the situation, we settled for 125mb for £20 , 18 month £34 with £14 rolling discount, one off goodwill gesture of £20 for Aug.
Now we have just got to wait for our refund of £24 mid cycle of the last contract bill before we got cut off.
And the anticipation of the new bill when it gets generated.
Oh and add the direct debit back on.

Catch up on the cricket I missed

I Got 125 volt for 25 pounds with stream box. After a lot of messing about the did agree to double my speed for free to 250 mb. As I have an o2 sim and it was volt m124 package. So worth a go.... Paul

My contract expired last month, I was paying £43/month then a lost a discount which put it up to £56 this month and I was due to lose another discount next month which takes it up to about £65, for M350 (getting 500 with Volt)

So I phoned to cancel and she offered me £48/month, which I obviously declined on the basis a new customer can get m350 for £38, she said she can't offer me anything better and passed me on to disconnection team. They then offered me the same package for £41/month, which is less than I was paying before my discounts ended so rather than sit and wait for them to call back I accepted that.

A relative used the online chat system as he's deaf and even with his hearing aid he can't understand the foreigners on the phone.
They offered him practically nothing and the cancellation is due on the 10th, they've not emailed him or phoned.
No idea what's going to happen now

That chat system bis useless especially the cable care team , they always have to connect you to the customer relations team as the have no tools to work with. As regards your mate , they probably don't have marketing enabled for them to contact you back , even if you go and enable this now it says it takes 28 days for the system to update.

My saga is on going got updated details on account and they want £68 on the 4th September.
Having looked again what we agreed to and the first bill is meant to be £9.97 even that's incorrect and the owed is credit of £24.03; so even that's the full charge of £34 instead of the agreed;£20;;;then the next month is meant to be £20 but no mention vof the £20 good will gesture. Been on chat and they can't vsee £20: agreement

You got ripped mate.

I was paying £36 for 500mb (volted to 1git), end of contract it was due to jump to £69, they offered to drop it to £45 told them no and put in cancellation.

They called me a few days later offered £38 then £35, said no but asked them to call me back closer to the contract end incase I changed my mind.

They called back the following week, offered £35 again, said no, can get it for £29.99 else where for 1gig up and down, so they went away and came back with £26 fixed for 18 months for 500mb but still volted to 1gig.

Think it's actually more than that , but yeah I see loads of customers signing up at their current price keeping it the same and not realising the hit come April, you really need it reduced

Update to my saga, our account got updated today and they were asking for £68 to be paid 4th Sept. They said disregard that it's system generated, but then proceeded to say the bill was 43.97 and not 9.97 for Sept. Queried this and managers discounts had not been applied , it was in the notes but not actioned and they kept saying that it will be done but couldn't trust them or then probably have to spend yet another day or days contacting them again.
We are getting disconnected again , one thing I don't agree with is the fact you have to give another 30 days notice, the 14 day cooling off just waives early disconnection fees. So we are now paying them regardless.
Surprised also we put in. Complaint yesterday and they just rang and are looking init ring us back at 7.30pm

Edited update
Complaints have persuaded us to stay and guaranteed the discounts will be added . Hope I've done the right thing, and I'm not going through this in a few weeks time

So what did you eventually sign up too?

The virgin rep has been knocking on our doors today. Aparntly he is coming back after 6.30pm says there are some good deals to be had.

Remember when agreeing to these deals, your price will go up in April and you cant leave penalty free anymore, so when agreeing to the deal remember its for 18 months and add on an extra 10% roughly and make sure you can still afford until end of contract👍
What’s the script with not being able to cancel within 30 days of being notified of a price increase when did that change or is that a virgin clause in there contracts?

the terms changed this year, if you are not in contract then it doesn't apply, but if you're 12 months into an 18 month contract you can't cancel until the contract is up without paying a penalty

That’s insanity is that ofcom regs or just virign? Cos the prices can litterly go to anything in April so I’d still be in the minimum terms come April.

I Don't know but I think you vwill find it states in the T&C's that the prices go up in April and by taking a contract you accept the terms & Conditions (that was stated to me over the phone when I renewed). I would say that is fairly standard

So in a nutshell you’re haggling it down and using that price increase and try leverage that and factor it in when contracting with them? I already have an account but want to set another one up but they have offered M125 for £26.50 + £80 bill credit bring the total monthly cost to around £22-£23, but they will claw back that £80 in theory by pushing the price up close to £30 a month. So really £26.50 isn’t that great, you think as I am setting up as a new customer that they will push the price down?
