Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

Is anyone who has put their cancellations in getting any calls back from retentions? Our cancellation has been in two weeks and not one call. We cannot get youfibre yet to our house and it might be 1-12 months away. Its looking like we might go with plusnet on a 12 month deal @ £33.00 for 300mb. Unsure if today is the best day to do it or hope some new deals come tomorrow, but tomorrow is a new financial year and most things seem to be going up in price.
Get back on whatsapp, check your account for new offers as well.

Check your acct as sometimes better offers than online or WhatsApp.
Log in and check here too
Most of the time near the end of you contract, they offer you £3 upgrade to next speed. Sign in
I have logged into the mrs's account and i have not seen anything that gives the offer to stay with them. The only option i have seen is to upgrade.

I never got any call backs.

What fibre network can you connect too (open reach, city fibre, netomnia)?

We have open reach in the street so we can have vodafone, plusnet ect upto 1.6gb. We have virgin and we also have 3 5g via the mast and we can get upto 600mb.
Netomania have installed up the street to where the last telegraph pole is but it then goes underground and they have stopped. I called them this morning and where we live is on phase 1 of the install process and it has to reach phase 8 for the installs to be complete. This is the reason i was thinking plusnet on a 12 month contract at £33.99 for 300mb. I nearly signed up to vodafone last week as they said they said had i seen a deal anywhere and i sent them a photo of a deal of 900mb at £30.00. The old me they would price match it up until the last minute and then they pulled it from me. This was after i think they had done a credit check too.

I suspect voda offered to match the price as they assumed you had city fibre (it's cheaper for them to connect with cf than or), but when they checked and found you only have Open Reach, they couldn't price match it.

I can check with Yayzi what the cost would be, I know they can connect with Open Reach, but tend not too as it is more expensive.

EDIT: Just checked, and it costs Yayzi about £10 a month more to use OR than CF, so it will be similar for Voda.

Yayzi unfortunately are not available in my area. Did you not go with vodafone. Are they ok?

Yayzi will be able to connect you, but as above they tend not to advertise Open Reach connections because of the extra costs, means they are not competitive. 900mb would be £45 a month using Open Reach (that's the lowest speed they offer).

No didn't go with voda in the end, the cashback / giftcard offers changed the day after I signed up, so I cancelled it and started again, however the cashback and giftcards didn't track, so asked them to cancel again so I could try a 3rd time.

The 3rd time they again didn't track, but also I didn't get a confirmation email from voda, so had to call them and was told it hadn't processed their end correctly and therefore they had to cancel it, they told me to put it through again.

However that then screwed my credit file, as too many credit checks / contracts taken out in a short period.

So they could only offer to give it me at full price with no cashback or giftcards (around £200 more for the same contract over the 24 months).

So I went with yayzi instead.

So the mrs has rang virgin and they have offered 380mb broadband only @ £35.00. It means it goes up £5.60 and i lose mixit tv and phone. Not that we use the phone. Plusnet would be £1.05 cheaper but i would lose 80mb on the speed. Seems not a great deal to me.

380mb is a weird speed for VM ??!?!

Well new customers can get 350mb and 200 channels for £34.99 and £5 for weekend chatter -- ask VM to match that

I called back VM the other day and ended up going for 1Gb package (18 months) for £56. Was paying £67 for same connection. New customers get it for £40. I would have preferred to pay this price, but it seems it's getting tougher to push them for discount.

yes as I posted before new contract we may have been lucky but we have never needed to sign up under say my name rather than my wifes we have always just waited untill contract is almost up and just signed up again for 18 months perhaps yes new contract but under same name.

Being a new financial year and all the products going up in price I have decided to go with plusnet and have fttp installed. I only wanted 300mb as its fast enough for me, the cost is £33.99 on a one year contract. Hopefully by then youfibre will have completed the install and i can maybe get them to buy the contract out.

While I was waiting for my new provider to full the fibre to me after leaving Virgin I got myself a 4G router with a data sim card (Smarty IIRC) for 2 months while I was waiting. Worked fine for me as a temp measure.

I already did this 2.5 years ago, even bought my own 5g router but its faulty i believe. It makes it really unstable but i did get 600mb with the official router. I also have a 4g router and tested it the other night and got over 100mb with it. The other half often works from home including video calls so we need a really stable service. I had the 5g service for just over 11 months before i swapped back last time.
