Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

Not going to jump in yet and probably should post this some where else , sorry. I'll take a look , but if I was to upgrade the eero and get my own any suggestions.

Thanks

How long does it take for the one touch switch to activate. We got the vermin email a few days ago to be disconnected 21st but still live.

T

Today's the 22nd.
It's only a few hours, who cares?
You're not paying for it after 21st
Just wondered how it works , as been disconnected in the past instantly, by error.

Got to wait for the final bill to see , but when you say you're not paying after the 21st , technically the last bill covered dates until the 4th March. Si wouldn't surprise me if the messed up .

But yeah I get your point only been a few hours

Hi folks

Currently on....
  • 1Gb package from Virgin for £67 a month. Contract is up in April
Called them today and the first offer I get is £67 a month for next 18 months. I said no, got put through to retentions. The best deal he could offer was
  • 1Gb for £60
  • 512mb for £54
New customers can get 1Gb for £40 a month. I would have accepted £50 a month. I told them I need to look at other offers and will probably call back to cancel. Sadly I live in a city centre and VM are the only ISP where I will get above 200mb connection. So I kinda feel trapped. I also live alone, so I can't cancel contract and take out a new one in someone else's name. Is this REALLY the best offer I can get from them? Anyone got tips on how to get price down? I work from home, so I need to make sure I don't lose my connection.

get some prices from other providers - ring back and say you are cancelling (you must do that) and quote the other price as an example :: then be BRAVE -retentions will ring at some stage in the next 30 days

I've looked at VM 1 gig price -- £36.99 (broadband only - have you got other services ??)

No other services with VM. They try and throw extras at you (like O2 SIM contract) to tie you in even further.

Just had an email from VM -- Price going up by inflation 3.6% plus 3.9% (7.5% in total).
I thought they were told to do away with this way of doing it and had to tell customers how much the rise would be in pounds and pennies ???

If you had your contract before the change, then you are subject to old price rises.

Move as soon as you can mate.

A lot of the City Fibre network providers are promising no in contract price rises.

7.5% is huge im doubting our pay rises get anywhere near that.

You are not allowed to move with regards to this increase as its RRI right?

You will be penalised if you terminate your contract now i thought

I still do not get this we have not long just signed up again for 18 months and got it a new customer prices and have never needed to change to another name

That would be me then...

I've got a year to go on my contract, so stuck for now.......

Is anyone who has put their cancellations in getting any calls back from retentions? Our cancellation has been in two weeks and not one call. We cannot get youfibre yet to our house and it might be 1-12 months away. Its looking like we might go with plusnet on a 12 month deal @ £33.00 for 300mb. Unsure if today is the best day to do it or hope some new deals come tomorrow, but tomorrow is a new financial year and most things seem to be going up in price.
