Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

I was on the top tv package with bt sport and sky sports hd + 500mb, but have cancelled last week as they were going to increase my bill by £8.50 a month, I now only want broadband with no tv they emailed me an offer of 213mb bb for £28 sounds reasonable but will try and wangle 500 mb for £28 or 200 mb for around for £20. I am an o2 customer allready so maybe I can get volt benefits on top of that

Putting in cancellation notice and having outbound retentions team call you mate.

Nearly all the time going down that route gives you really the best deals possible compared to just talking to the inbound retentions team.

You just have to be patient as they will call you after you put the notice in.

There isnt a number for outbound team as such as they calls from mobille numbers, 0800 numbers from my experience.

thanks mate so what number does one use to put in cacelations?
This is the number I tried

Code:
03454541111

It goes through the options till you get to leaving us. I got stuck at the password as I can't remember it lol

I think this is a separate password to your account that should have been setup when phoning previously but I can't remember it

Had second call from VM outbound team and both from mobile numbers and this one was a joke.

Said even though I have volt he cant do anything for me as price which will be going up on 1st march is still a bargain and if want to leave I can

Well will see few more weeks and may end up ringing them myself last week before disconnection.

Should have said, well if it's such a bargain, why don't you pay it for me then

Didnt want to waste my time tbh mate.

I could tell he was going through the motions and wasnt interested at all with doing any kind of good deal.

I will be happy just to get 350mb at price been paying.

@marcoose i'll give you a little rundown.
1. If possible log into you virgin account and check to see if your contract has expired or about to.

2. Ring 150 from your virgin phone or 0345 454 1111 and listen to the options until you hear the option Thinking of leaving us.

3. Tell the agent you wish to cancel your services with them with immediate effect.

4. If the agent asks why you wish to leave usually the most effective reason is to state a lack of funds due to circumstances beyond your control.

5. At this point its very important you do not accept any offer they try to give you because he / she is trying to wangle their daily commision/bonus.
In the very unlikely event they offer you a deal you cannot refuse and they price is what you want or even better than you were expecting then feel free to accept it and double check it to make sure a mistake has not been made.

6. If no acceptable deal is reached then stand firm and continue with the 30day cancellation notice. At this point you may get the response of we need you to return your equiptment in a box we will post out etc, just agree but i cant remember the last time this ever happened .

7. In the coming days someone from the outbound sales retention team will ring you to try and retain your custom with them. At this point its very important that you arm yourself with a little knowledge of what other Broadband companies current deals and offers are being put on offer.

8. Have a fixed price in mind and try and stick to it no matter how hard this may seem but do be realistic ok.

9. As pointed out earlier in the thread by @TheSource when a deal has been agreed to Double check and Triple check the contract details that the package you accepted is the right Speed and price and any loyalty bonuses agreed to have been applied to the account .

Happy hunting and hope you manage to grab yourself a great deal and keep us posted on how you did 👍👍👍

I had to return my Virgin Media TV receiver when I cancelled. They sent me a pre-paid box. 3 or 4 years ago now though.

Another one rang earlier and said basically as I'm on 350mb cant match my old price and the price increase will be best price for that package.

Seems like this will be the case no matter who I speak to which is a shame.

Don't care about 500meg or 1gig but 350mb is the sweet spot and would like to keep it but for £3.25 or how much extra it is gona be just thinking may go back to 200mb if brings price down.

But peeved off took o2 sim and got volt benefits but haven't really got most from the BB speed increase because of the price being increased. Clearly shady tactics from both VM and O2 and fooling people with the volt benefits incentive.

Anyone have the Direct UK Retentions Number ?
Every time I call the 0345 454 1111 number, takes me to the Far East Call Center.
