Your box is not dead--it's a clone indicated by the 97% looping---you need the last known clone firmware and the 8m erom upgrade.

hi help is required I have an F5s and a V8s both are stuck on load I have the null modem cable and the and the USB to RS232 convertor, however, I can not get past step 2 they will not download the eprom upgrade. I have used the sliders in the port settings yet still no joy any ideas cheers

Thanks to the op, tried this on my bricked skybox and managed to get to the point where it loads to 100 and just restarts, any advice plz.
 
Thanks reaper seems the box was a clone box so used the clone firmware and upgrade and all working now just need to get the sky channels, sky sports and BT sport working next. Thanks once again
 
All went as shown on first page but when I connected the box upto the tv I got a message file mismatch so I tried the process with the other file on page 2 now I get a message in EROM saying STB sdram is failed ? anyone have any idea´s thanks. The box loads 100 then it says SEPE on the front panel if this helps.

hi guys im new to openbox and hope you can help im trying to restore my v8s box but when i get to the point were i add power to box it dont say 'done' it just says synchronising stb can any tell me were im going wrong thx
 
Greetings from the States! :-D I just registered and I have the same problem with my Skybox F5 receiver that I bought from a Canadian on Ebay. The FW is from Oct. 2012 and tried to update it to the most recent version. After many many hours of File Mismatch or Hardware Mismatch errors, I finally figured out that you must extract the RAR file using a RAR File Extractor software that you can find for free on the internet. After you successfully extracted the RAR file using that program, you can have it saved right to your USB Flashdrive as a ABS file; then you can flash the Skybox without any Mismatch Errors! After having such a bad time updating the Skybox all day long, I was beginning to wonder if I bought a clone from the Canadian. My suspicions were correct, I tried to flash the Skybox with the latest F5 F/W, only to have it go to 97% with an E0001 Error. So now I have to wait for cables and cable gender changers to arrive in the mail to try to fix the bricked box with the RS232 Software I got from Skybox. I left a not so happy feedback with the seller for sending me a clone box, and was about to give up on updating the F/W, until I bricked it. I hope my suggestions help with the Mismatch problems. :-)

Good point! I hope to find the correct upgrade software and FW to bring my Skybox back to life again with the correct official Skybox FW. It really is pretty messed up to buy a clone receiver, when you have done everything in your power not to. Is there anyone left selling genuine Skybox receivers? :-/
 
Done everything i can still cant get it to work, can get it to load up and turn on......then bbc1 comes on for roughly 10 seconds before the screen freezes, during this time im unable to get onto menu or change channel :(

Try a new power supply [psu] as these have a habit of losing power.

I have a similar problem one box faded 8 a F5s and one a red light a F5 -Is there any hope- will try the link above if it allows me!
 
Please help.my skybox stopped working.keeps rebooting when it gets to l100.can't even get to menu reboob straight away.Hellllllp
