Causes of failures

Hi all
Just got skybox F5s for my son after joining and gleaning a lot of great information from this forum.
Being a pessimist I have took the time to read through all 55 pages of this tread anticipating what might go wrong with the box......BIT SCARY. I have purchased both a null lead and usb cables as suggested,to cover possible eventualities as I have both laptop and old tower system available.
have also come to the conclusion that if it was not for members interaction on this forum then there would be a lot of boxes in the bin. In particular I see REAPER and KREMEN being prolific contributors for this I personally thank you both, and of cause the many other contributors.
I hope if the need arises that REAPER is still in the market of offering his excellent repair service should my need arise.
It appears the boxes are a bit flaky and a lot end up expiating the same failure symptoms.
With reference to the box failures has any one a list of thinks not to do or to do that might reduce the failure rate of the boxes. It is good to be able to fix them but it would be even better not to have to.
 
The F5s is a great little box if left alone---they usually arrive with latest f/w and channel list installed, I don't use a channel list because after testing and playing around I believe the failure rate of this and other boxes can be contributed to the constant use of usb keys so if a box is happily working leave it alone---"Don't play with it"

I love the F5S, there so basic you can't go wrong. Unfortunately there so many clone on the market, which kills them. I had no problem ever with mine.

I feel that when People Brick the boxes, they don't delete the channel list and there just adding more Data and basically the box cant take all the DATA and goes into flash mode for the most part.

I also think now with the DIM 8, that with a Box being original it will flash, not compared to the clones which rarely flash.

I had over 20 boxes send to me in the last Month, mostly on DIM 8 and all have flashed and where real boxes.

Hi all I have had my f5s now for a few months today I I put my TV on and the box was stuck on 0016 and no picture then I reset it by pulling the power lead out and wen I put it back on the was nothing no lights I think the is slight little red light but it is barely visible can anyone help me with this the guy I bought it off is not responding lol any help will be good thanks
