Help with update or new box from basically no tech person

No i didnt do that
i just flashed online that 7.3 thing, it flashed the box and then rebooted itself, then ive just removed the plugs tried it on another tv with a different HDMI and pushed the audio button then exited back out again
 
So settings are restored.
Select Quest HD, then press Audio. Take a picture of the options on the Audio screen and upload it here

EDIT:
When you adjust the volume with your receiver remote, does the volume on the TV change or on receiver?

when i push the volume it appears on screen and goes up and down in numbers, but it doesnt appear on the digital display on the box, just the clock all the time unless i change channel
 
I am interpreting your response that the volume on the TV is changing. Do you know how to log into the web interface of your receiver? Please do so and check what the volume is.

is the grab i sent not correct audio options, No i dont know how to log in to the interface on the receiver

Ok, what is the volume level of receiver as shown in the web interface? Is it muted/0 by any chance? If so, increase it please.
 
It might be a hardware issue on the box then. But before we give up, can we try a factory reset? You will need to set timers and scan.
