Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

Just renewed my Virgin broadband best price i could get for Volt 250mb was £23 50mb increase from last year and was paying £22 but this will increase in April i suppose with their new t&c's lol 😲😲😲😆

Is that 100mb volted to 250mb? We got 250mb volted to 385 (350) for £26.99 including the basic tv and phone with weekend calls. Our was a new contract though as we left and went 5g. We got it through a local 02 store, we had to take out a £6.00 02 contract but thats volted to 10gb. I took a 2nd sim with the same allowance at £4.80.

To be honest i have no idea and i dont have o2 account either and i didn't have one last time either so they must have wangled a deal somehow.
I dont need house phone or any tv packages etc i have all the tv viewing i need through alternative method's 🤣 i can just about scrape through with 250mb when ps5's and gaming pc are all online and my shield and cube and firesticks aswell.

I wish I had known how much speed I needed. I just cancelled my 125mb with virgin as it moved to £51. but the girl said £26 (never mention April increase). In 18 months I will change to 60mbps at a cheaper price.

tbh I think number of devices that can connect to router is a bigger issue than speed, ie 'Virgin Fibre customers can use up to 7 devices on Virgin Media WiFi at any one time' and that was just cut and paste from the 'Legal Stuff' section off Virgin Media Connect App | Everything You Need to Know , even worse go to Our Best Broadband Deals | £0 Setup | January 2024 - Virgin Media and under the M125 section it states 'With average download speeds of 132Mbps, our M125 Fibre Broadband provides reliable internet for casual browsing, streaming and video calls on up to 4 devices.'

In this day and age, I don't know anyone who would be happy with a limit of 4 devices, any more than that and droppouts are possible.

So you may not need more speed but if you want to have more devices connected without experiencing droppout on some then either get you own router that can handle more devices, or increase speed.

is that not why we just put virmin routers even the latest into modem mode and use mesh systems even deco m4 for me allows more devices.

Sadly the latest virgin media routers don’t let you put it into modem mode the hub 5x doesn’t have that option anywhere in the settings so your stuck with their basic interface to control what’s on your network.

I have about 50 devices on 500mbps mostly smart devices (bulbs, switches, TV's etc) that arn't constantly using internet and experienced a lot of dropouts when just using the VM Hub, installed mesh and no drop outs.

I have vm hub 5 and you can put it into modem mode i,e,
