Broadband Retentions leaving Virgin question - Price increase

Hi. My V. M contract is up 7th July. It will jump from 40 to 51 for 250mb b/and only. If I go to my virgin app, account, upgrade, there's not any discounted options for me. Maybe to early to look but will be looking foe a better deal, like others. Thanks... Paul

Hey plasterer, depends how brave you want to be, tel virgin tell them you can’t afford it, they will offer you a lower price ( guaranteed), say no still too much and that you’ll leave, wait 24 hours, retentions will phone you offering a win win deal

I think you’ll need to call them and plead poverty. Good luck.

We pay £25 for 250 but volt bumps it up to 350,You need to put a cancel request in and say no at least 2 times

Looks like that's the way to go, same as every contract end. Just wondering why there was no upgrade in my virgin media. Cheers lads.... Paul

The virgin media upgrade page never works for me. Just remember when you're negotiating the price will increase in April and this April you won't be able to renegotiate. So whatever price you agree add on an extra £5 and make sure you can still afford that, come April time

Thats far too expensive for starters 😲
First thing you need to do is Ring and tell them you wish to serve your 30 days notice cancellation.
At this point they will try to knock a couple of quid off but dont be tempted by this the real saving's will come from the outbound retensions team.
At the moment most people should be getting 250MB broadband package only for £24 or less so if they offer above this price decline and hold firm till they ring you again to better it.
I know it can be a pain in the A..E waiting for them to ring but sadly its the only way to get a good deal with them.
Hope you manage to bag yourself a better contract and keep us informed of your outcome so others can see what deals are available with a little bit of good old haggling 👌👌👌

OK so just a month befor my contract £41 rising to £51 if I loose my 10 pound discount expires. 256 Meg broadband only.
To impatient to wait jumped on live chat came away with m125 package, which is 125m Meg down from 250,but thrown in a vm stream box with freeview at £25 a month, so took them up on that. 18 month contract.
Hope this is of some use to others.... Paul

We got the free stream box when we signed up to virgin.
It’s about the same size as an android box maybe smaller

Update contract ends 26 ,July they wanted £7 disconnection fee because we are still outside 30:days , now they also do 60 days but will just contact them next week. They tried to offer us 250 and 350 mb for the same price £32. Laughed

To be fair ime happy with wot I have. 250 Meg or 125 Meg all the same to me. Rarely use torrents now, so no need for faster downloads, and it's 15 pounds a month cheaper for 18 months.
we just waited untill end of contract then said we would cancle, So just started another 18 month one £1 more than last one but did not get virmin sim card that we did not even use .

The problem with these contracts is regardless if we bag a deal now, come April it will go up in line with inflation plus something like 3.8%, so we will always have mid contract price increases. Each year, every year its the way these contracts are built and they’re not fixed prices either, they can changed them whenever they want. Just some get this and some don’t, think it’s depending on when you actually agree the new contract but haven’t figured out their logic on that.

Virgin are giving away a free £299 speaker or £100 of your bills, so I'd ring back during your cancellation period and try and blag this too
