If you have 2 different providers and 2 indoor monitors only one monitor will work.We had smart meters installed April last year and the gas reading has never worked on the monitor.
When we got in touch with Octopus they said to change the settings to read every 30 minutes as it was a longer period before.
Still never worked just sits on awaiting data.
You can take a photo of the display using your phone. So 5th of Feb came and guess what ? they cancelled again and I received nothing for the missed appointment on the 17th Jan.
I spent another hour on the phone and was informed that they would sort it from their end and the fault info had been forwarded on to the relevent department and to allow 5 working days which was the 12th
And you guessed it it's still broke, still showing £22:60 online and you have to manually add any top up to the meter in the garden. But worse we've no way of knowing what's left without lying in the sh*t trying to read the LED.
I think I've exhausted every avenue even 3 emails of complaint with no reply. I think I'll take it to the ombudsman and see it the can help
Why not just have a normal set up where you pay monthly? If it goes tits up then it will still supply gas.I went to top it up yesterday manually and the A buttons sticking. I sprayed some switch clean in but it's the same. If that screws up I've no way of topping the meter up
There's a reason for that,Why not just have a normal set up where you pay monthly? If it goes tits up then it will still supply gas.
At the end of the day you still pay the same amount for gas or electricity used if it's PAYG or quarterly. I get it that some don't like big bill's popping through the door. There's a reason for that,
me and the other half use to have this on electric quarterly bills.
Every 3 months arguments of the highest order would start from how much you fill the kettle, how long they gonna be in the shower to why's the heating on again when it's warm outside ??!!.
In my last property (no gas) we had storage heaters economy 7 and we were massively overcharged a looooooong story we ended up nearly in court but sorted it days before we won.
When we moved to this property both the excisting electric and gas meters had a key and a card which suited us, nip shop top up.
Then the shop closed and it was a drive hence,
2 smart meters installed so we could use online, and an Ivie Bud the jobs done. It's been superb and we top up when needed no slam bam thank you mamm bill every 3 months and no huge big rows.
Electric meter?, I've never had one issue and tbf the gas has been fine that was till there was a nationwide top up issue the backend of Nov 24 were smart meters weren't sending your online top up the meter. Everyone's was fixed but mine remains the same.
Some people keep saying "You pay more ! " to be quite frank I do not give a flyer just as long as I don't have that quarterly huge ding dong argument it's a price worth paying plus no putting away then pinching from it to pay Paul
PAYG gas is twice the price per cubic metre than quarterly billed gas.At the end of the day you still pay the same amount for gas or electricity used if it's PAYG or quarterly. I get it that some don't like big bill's popping through the door.
Putting money aside isn't easy for everyone, food bills and other everyday bills tend to eat into it, meaning when the 90 day bill arrives, there's feckall left in the potI can understand within reason , but you can easily work out how much you are topping up and just put this a side to pay the quarterly bill .
