Buzz p6

Any news on if The Buzz P6 is certified ?

Seems to of gone well off topic this thread .
Looked at a few videos on YouTube some of them seem to say it’s not certified.
Also mentioned how the release date has be put back several times.
It’s also not running on Google TV or Android TV os.

I have sent them a email waiting to hear back
Just seen a video on YouTube and the YouTuber had contacted
BuzzTV and was informed that the P6 will run AOSP.
So will have no type of certification for official streaming apps.
The chipset has been used in other devices they have just bagged more storage and ram into it compared to other devices.
I look forward to the reviews when somebody gets hold of one.

I don't think the hardware is in issue for just streaming TV or plex/rd etc. Codec support and software goes a long way and most of these boxes either don't mention it and you need to ship it back after testing or you need to make support threads and hope the bugs get fixed.

Cannot really compare beelink with the P6 as it has these specs
Android 13
WiFi 6
16GB DRAM
8K streaming and has simultaneous encoding and decoding capabilities with up to 2.4GHz frequency
built-in 128GB of internal storage with expandable storage capabilities via NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory express

I already pre-ordered mine and will test to compare anyway.
Will update once received and tested

What will you be mainly using it for?
What codecs are you hoping it supports if any?
Hardware doesn’t make a great device it also needs great firmware.
Have you tested the Beelink device already?

If you want to compare it I think is better compare with Nvidia shield.
Yes tested beelink
Not only streaming but also games

The p6 and IPC-R have the same cpu and gpu and can’t see their being much in it performance wise other than the model with 16gb ram.
What image and audio codecs did the IPC-R support?
What device do you use for streaming at the moment?

Now I use the Buzztv X5 but am curious not only for streaming but also gaming performance
It looks like it’s aimed more at gamers but the lack of codec support like other BuzzTV devices and the money they are asking is disappointing imo.
Iptv should run well on it though.

Also no certification will put some off also.

Which codecs do the buzz tv devices typically lack? And is that due to hardware or software limitations?

That is what I had heard happens with DV content on Samsung TVS but I do see remux files with DV and HDR profiles but not all.
There is a setting on Kodi in player, video called
Allowed HDR dynamic metadata formats.
Which gives you the option to remove DV or HDR+ metadata.
You may already know about it though and not sure if it would fix your issue with DV content.

Thanks - I wasn't aware of that setting.

I did play some files last night that were marked as DV but not HDR10. However, none had the purple tint. But I'm not sure if the player is automatically removing the metadata or if the files did have HDR10 too.

When I have seen reviews in the past on Buzz devices it’s usually Dolby codecs. Limitations is probably due to a bit of both. Also Dolby codecs license fees may play a part also

Most remux files should have both metadata for DV and HDR.
If it has both I would think your tv should switch into HDR mode but if it’s just DV you may have playback issues on a Samsung tv and others that don’t support DV.

DTS has lossless codecs as well such as DTS-HD Master audio whereas Dolby has TrueHD.

Most movies come with a compatibility track which is the lossy DTS format for remuxes and DDP (Dolby Digital Plus) or DD (Dolby Digital) for TrueHD. So many people think they are playing the lossless track when in fact it is the compatibility track being played or transcoded.

There's also object oriented flavors for both the lossless audio codecs and as such you have Dolby Atmos TrueHD and DTS:X Master Audio which has very immersive tracks if one has ceiling speakers for movies like Top Gun, Ford vs Ferrari etc.
