Not using the Shield for footie.
The iPlayer on Shield doesn't give the option of Hlg HDR, the LG C3 TV does, unsure if other devices offer it ATV fire etc.
I did read that sky were considering using that same format because of price !

Sky should have evrey channel in 4k the prices they charge. Although I know its not possible

You can try one of those sat boxes they are pretty good if you get a motorised dish you will get most stuff 3pm kick offs etc

I'm covered now for this season with Peacock and sling, don't think I could be arsed with the sat route now, used to be fun

I see, I haven’t heard that rumour.
I wonder if they reduce the price of people subscriptions due to not supplying UHD channels and just FHD HLG HDR.
Some strange feeling tells me they probably won’t lol.

No just ordered a formuler z11 pro max. Decided to goto the darkside with stuss and bazz

The Buzz TV X5 SS looks decent - albeit pricey for the specs. It's also going to get an OTA update to Buzz TV 6.

No I will sell the sheild. Think its about 18 months old got a couple of the tube ones around the house anyway

I’ll stick with my uncertified device running AOSP as it hasn’t failed to play anything I have tried on it yet.

With the lack of codec support and no certification.
I think it’s going to suit a niche market but you have those that dive in because it’s the latest device and they see words like fast, power house, shield killer and 16gb RAM.
It just seems overkill just for iptv.
Maybe it will be capable of recording multiple channels if needed, which cheaper devices can’t manage very well.
Also it should be capable of having multiple channels open at once and switching between them.
The game emulation should be decent if that’s what some are after as well.

Can the Z11 handle all the codecs? I tried one briefly last year and the picture quality on the shield seemed much better.

Any particular image or colour format? Live tv pictures, streamed movies/tv shows or locally stored media?
Also out of curiosity what happens if you play DV content on a Samsung TV?
I have tried most of the codecs on my device now but some fail using ExoPlayer but Kodi plays them all now with the latest Nightlies build.

I haven’t come across anything with DTS:X yet so can’t know for sure but my device doesn’t have it listed in supported formats and have noticed it’s not in Kodi either.

From memory it was a movie remux file on demand. I can't remember if it was HDR etc.

I can test that this weekend. There are a few videos that have played with a purple tint, which I have assumed were DV.

I can test that this weekend. There are a few videos that have played with a purple tint, which I have assumed were DV.

That is what I had heard happens with DV content on Samsung TVS but I do see remux files with DV and HDR profiles but not all.
There is a setting on Kodi in player,video called
Allowed HDR dynamic metadata formats.
Which gives you the option to remove DV or HDR+ metadata.
You may already know about it though and not sure if it would fix your issue with DV content.
