Well you normally see a Google certified sticker and box manufacturers make a big thing of it now. No such sticker that I can find. Normally a netflix one aswell. So it won't even play 4k netflix without certification

looking at getting one of these buzz p6 boxes they are on pre-order now they have 2 versions

8 gig £249.99
16 gig £329.99

Certinaly higher specs than sheild but before I commit to paying that sort of money would want proper certified apps like sheild downloading from tv android Google play.

Read more here.

BuzzTV PowerStation 6 (Pre-Order)
It just states Android 13.
So not sure it’s running ATV 13 widevine l1 which it needs for certification.
Also doesn’t tell you what picture and audio codecs it supports.
For me It would need to support every image and audio codec for that kind of money.
I personally don’t need certification on a device and prefer AOSP.

If you buy from there, you'll also have to pay shipping and tax possibly, too. So you are likely to pay from £354 - £437.

I had read somewhere that some of Buzz's devices have two app stores - no idea if any of those offer Google TV apps.

The Buzztv XRS4900 and the X5 only did Netflix in sd.
Don’t think the Rockchip 3588 supports DV if that is important to you.

They do have a app store to download downloader and other apps a bit like formuler boxes if that's the case it's 100% not worth that sort of money. The sheild overall would still be the better buy.

I bought my 2019 shield as soon as it came out and I've been very happy with it - except for that shitty remote. But I wouldn't spend £200 on a device that is 4.5 years old.

I've got a Chromecast 4k that I got for £40 and the latest Firestick Max that was £35ish with the trade in, and they run pretty much everything I throw at them.

I'm more interested in the Buzz L1 device. I wonder how good that will be for IPTV. It looks like it won't have any other apps but could be good for someone looking to use it just for IPTV.

The counter argument to that is if they don't need to realse a new device why bother the support from nividia is pretty good to be fair.

Oh that's a hefty price, hopefully someone will post some feedback once the pre-orders ship.

Not sure if they will be releasing a new shield anyway as you don’t need one now to game on there platform.
Also read that the shield can’t transition to Google tv from Android tv.
Also Nvidia has still not addressed the issue with HLG HDR format not being supported.

I think I might look at another box. Not paying that for buzz. Not too worried about netflix I just use my streamio app anyway.

It seems really expensive so it must be more of a gaming device for that kind of money.
Not for me as I only need a streaming device.
Out of curiosity will be looking out for reviews when they come out.
Also heard that the P6 doesn’t support Dolby Atmos.

Well that would be terrible really. I mean it's very expensive you would expect it to walk all over the sheild which in some respects it dose.

The Rockchip cpu does beat the benchmark scores of the Tegra x1 but who is the device aimed at if it doesn’t support Dolby vision or Atmos and also what ever other codecs it may not support.
For some reason they don’t list any of the supported codecs.

I mean it will run iptv easily and will be decent for gaming emulation.
Me personally I think it’s expensive just for running iptv and gaming emulators as that is all it seems to be able to do.

I looked at a few American YouTube channels talking about the device and the comments made me laugh as some were saying they were ordering the 16gb version but that will be down to the fact that 16 is bigger that 8 lol.

What service uses or will be using HLG HDR?
I have only come across it during the Euros! With BBC I player.
My LG TV seemed to cope with that well with the the built in apps with a stunning picture. Pity ITV are showing the Euros as well

Sky, Astro,TNT, CANAL+, Ria 4k and probably more.
Most new TVs support it because it’s royalty free and has been around for nearly ten years.
