v8s stuck on load

Hi im an amateur and need advise. after a channel update my V8s is stuck on load. I am trying to perform a RS232 upgrade however i have a macbook air. Are there files available for my mac os?

have you googled erom upgrade ios>
Sure you'll find one - sorry I used windows - and it was a pain but great help on here.

ill try that now. Im a complete amateur with this but ive managed to update channel lists loads of times and this time the box is stuck on load :(

There is a whole lot of info in a thread re restoring dead boxes in openbox section.
If you haven't looked there - please do.
Make sure the cable is a correct one - (with handshaking) - I hard wired one in the end to make sure - caused me a lot of grief!!

Now you're losing me. i think the cables are correct. I've got a rs232 cable and a nine pin to usb adapter. the problem is the erom file is the windows one (I THINK)

Sorry ,didn't mean to.
I had a usb to nine pin but it didn't work - tried different drivers etc. but no luck. Maybe too old? Yours maybe ok though!!
Eventually I hard wired 2 x 9 pin ends from the pc to the box( as per wiring in thread mentioned above) pins 2-3, 3-2 (hand shaking is just more pins used), standard 232 only uses 3 pins.
I could then communicate with the box and tried a few files (as advised in the thread) and eventually it fully loaded.
I'm assuming once you get the right erom upgrade for ios the same file to load will do?

p.s
Maybe continuing on the old thread might get a better response?

Good luck

A lot of info on here and more experienced than me by far!! Def take a look at other thread!

As far as I know there's no software for a Mac, if you're connecting a null modem cable via USB, you'll also need another cable called a prolific 2303 USB to rs232 serial adapter. (That's the handshaking bit!). It's all explained in the guide jonty referred to in the sticky threads of the Openbox section.
