Firestick 4k Home problem

Hi Guys, as the title suggests, I've got a problem when the firestick 4k starts up, basically only the top line of the normal screen + "Home is not available" as a constant.
I can access and use my iptv app, but it is very slow to load, and slow to change channels.

Firestick says to restart....have done that several times.
Check the wifi.......wifi is good as is the ethernet connection I usually use.
Amazon says to update if available.......it was and I updated successfully, but no change to one line and " Home is not available".......did a restart on that as well but no change.

The other suggestions were to take hdmi cables out, tv off at the wall, reboot the router, change the hdmi cable, change the hdmi input...all of which I have done but no change to the above.

So, if I read it right, the last thing I can do is to deregister, then reregister, and hope that sorts it.

Big question: If I do this, will my iptv app and its details dissapear, leaving me with contacting my provider to reinstate? Or will the world be shiny and the Home screen and my sideloaded apps still be there?

If any can advise on this, I'd appreciate the input, or if there is any other suggestion to try apart from reregister etc, then please advise.

Take photo of your IPTV details.
You can't lose them then

I don’t think deregistering will remove details from apps from the explanation in this video.
Factory reset definitely will.
Try clearing cache on all your apps if you haven’t already.
Not sure this will fix the Home Screen issue though.
But may help with the sluggish response.

My Fire TV cube was acting up last night, so when I could finally get into the settings I went to About and did a software update check.
It found one and undated it and it was fine after that.
thanks, Sandra51, maybe the whole thing was an amazon problem after all, will try later tonight and see.

Cheers Aristotle, will give it a go later when home........would hate to have to reset, always a last resort.

Check the storage on your stick

1. Go to settings
2. Select My Firetv option
3. Click About
4. Now Select Storage option

How much space is available ?

If the white bar is Full then you best to factory restore stick to run smooth or run an app cleaner to free some space

I'll keep a note of that for future use, thanks

there is an app called Background Apps and Process List that you can download from amazon.
use that to close running apps in the background , clear cache and also remove ones you do no need.
Cheers Urie, will download it, thanks

Does it take up much space? Might give it a try. Had one in the past but it was removed from the store/stopped working.

@Borzio Background Apps and Process List apps is no longer updated so may not work as well as it once did.
Worth trying for nothing though.
Definitely remove any apps you don’t need and clear cache regularly.

it does still work that is why I posted the info. Rather than factory restore wich would be last resort and iv'e never once needed to do that.

I didn’t say it didn’t work but it hasn’t been updated to maybe keep up with the regular updates that Amazon keep forcing on users.
I had seen on Reddit and YouTube that it didn’t work as well as it once did. But if it works well for you then all good.
Does it close all chosen apps together or do you have to close them all individually one by one?
How come you didn’t reply to
@gadget123 ?

You have to close them one by one always had to as for replying to @gadget123 I did not have details about memory it takes to install don't even have firestick plugged in.

Sounds more like a short cut for going into settings and manage installed applications and stopping each app.
Rather than having a couple of clicks app killer like the one Techdoctor released.

yes you could say that but at least it shows you what apps are running in the background which a lot of people do not realise.
