right, it was server version. now downloaded client version. This time the error below comes up. I am entering ip address rest is all blank.
"EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known".
 
some progress, connected to box (eventually) and managed to transfer the relevant files in usr/keys folder of the box. Next item on guide is finding mgcamd 1.38 in softcam menu. When i go so softcam menu, i have 'settings' and 'Softcam manager'. the latter is empty. Any ideas?
 
Did you download mgcamd 1.38 from plugins? If you have you need to highlight select cam in softcam manager and scroll left or right to find it
 
i missed downloading the plugins. after downloading, i selected the plugin and pressed 'enable startup' which put a green tick next to mgcamd 1.38. Rebooted the box but still cant get the premium channels. any way of checking whether the line/connection is active or not?
 
If you installed mgcamd AFTER you transferred your mg.cfg and newcamd.list across you will need to go back in to box using filezilla and retransfer the files again. Reason being when cam is installed it installs its own files which will overwrite the ones you had already sent
 
i tried deleting the existing files, and re transferred the files. re started the cam. still not getting the premium channels. could it be the line is not active?
 
Yes could well be but could be an error in the newcamd.list file there are some sample files on the forum with the correct layout. Was this a test line that came as a newcamd.list or some other format. If you compare contents of yours with the ones in attached zip I downloaded from Willos dropbox it should be laid out the same. Or request a new test stating you would like in newcamd.list format

soldiering on me. First connection was a test line which expired by the time i entered it in box. Second connection came thru and the channels are live. i am so glad to see hd channels after such a long wait.
Final couple of queries, some channels have 'Channels off air' message. why arent these playing. Also, some channels dont exist in the favourites at all. any way of searching/tuning to get those, these are s*y channels i am talking about.
 
Will depend on the way you have your autobouquets set up I reckon. There are quite a few on sky no longer work and will appear in the list if autobouquets isn't configured to suit. Someone with a cable box will need to help you here though as we have no cable in village where I live and the set up may be different to mine

ABM should bring in all the channels you need.
Can't say I've ever seen a " channel off air message"

Have you just scanned for cable channels?
 
Sky atlantic and a couple of others popped up in mine a few weeks back when I configured it wrong following a reflash. As you know they don't play the game anymore
 
guys, ive attached a snapshot of ABM configure and ABM providers menu. Anything jumping at you?

well, some of the channels arent working, see attached pic, the ones showing 'channels off air' are not working, so wondering whether an issue with configuration.
And other channels (like few south asian channels, which are free to air on s*y), i cant find those at all in the bouquet.

So are these sky channels or virgin channels? You're abm setup is showing virgin.

If you want sky aswell goto ABM configure and change include not indext channels yes then sky uk your area custom.

Goto providers order and you can set what bouquets you want first. Then start scan.
