OpenATV Set Up Guide

thank you so much for this detailed guide dangerous. I have followed all your steps but from some reason encrypted channels wont play. I am on cable so only 5 channels are working. My nline server is up definitely. Can this be due to a problem with my et8000? any help will be much appreciated as I have so much time now on this but to no avail:-(. thanks

You will probably have a small error somewhere.
Pm sent with things to check
 
Here are the settings I use
Goto menu - setup - audio - auto language selection
Audio language selection 1 - english
Audio language selection 2 - original
Audio language selection 3 - undetermined
Audio language selection 4 - none
Prefer ac3 track - yes
Prefer ac3+ track - no
Prefer audio track stored by service - no

With those settings I never get audio description on
 
Been having problems setting mine up and spent ages on it yesterday. Gonna try this guide later today but I have a couple of questions first.

Is this step:

"Once initialised convert the file format to ext4. Menu>setup>system>storage devices>Convert ext3 filesytsem to ext4
Please note though that ext4 will make your device unreadable on a windows computer."

.. mandatory? I'm trying to set up two boxes so will I need a USB stick for each box if I'm unable to use it on a Windows PC after first box?

And secondly:

".... your line provider should email you 2 files.
newcamd.list
mg_cfg
newcamd.list is your line details and be similar to this format"

my line was PM'd to me on a forum, so it's just a line rather than file, so I made a notepad file and copied the whole lot in, named it newcamd.list and put it in the directory.

However, I didn't know about that mg_cfg file and I think this is what may have been screwing me up yesterday. I don't have that file and it isn't already in the directory.

Should I PM the testline provider and ask him to send it me via email, or can I pick one up from elsewhere?

You will need two usb sticks anyone one for each receiver.
 
EDIT: Sorry chaps, you can ignore the below that I posted (apart from the Cheers bit. ;) ) I had the wrong Tuner settings.

Cheers for the replies. Just hit another stumbling block.. when I hit this part of the guide:

"Menu… Setup… Service Searching… AutoBouquetsMaker…Providers
Answer no to any providers that come up that you will not use foe example : Horizon NO, Kabel NO
Answer yes to the ones you need to use which will be usually Sky Uk or Virgin Media (Ireland users use your service provider)"

The three options I get are Freeview (UK), NL Terrestrial (Dutch I think), and Saorview (Google tells me this is Irish)..

I'm in Manchester so I have no idea why these ones are showing up? The other box I was setting up yesterday had the correct options, they're both H.2H but I can't continue setting up the other box currently as I'm waiting for a USB to arrive for it because I hit a snag with needing more space when following a guide to set up Woosh.
 
My channels / test line are up and running perfectly, thanks very much for this guide. Yesterday I was close to stumbling into sorting it out myself, but it wasn't until I read this guide that I realised it was the mg_cfg that was bollocking it up for me.

Luckily the box was delivered with Open ATV 5.3 already installed so I was able to skip a fair bit. I am yet to sort out the USB for EPG stuff, but I'll get round to that. Is it possible to update the EPG so it shows all upcoming tv shows etc without the use of USB?

As a side note, I don't appear to have MUTV HD or BoxNation HD (standards are there), is that normal?

Hi Dangerous can you help me please. I have no channels what so ever. My box is Zgemma h2s I know I looked at the forem last week and someone posted Oscam haven't got a fix yet. Is that true as I done a line test all is fine,can only get free view channels. I can't even record, pause or rewind is this all the same problem or is there a fix I can do. Still a newbie so please can you give me a step by step guide that's idiot proof for me. Thanks in advance!

It's game over, sly have encypted most of the transponders now. Servers are shutting up shop, nothing can be done.
Try IPTV or use cable if you have it.
 
Hi just looking some help. I loaded my zgemma last night using the openatv following the step by step guide provided here. I purchased a line and uploaded it to the box and all working fine then shortly after the ebayer contacted me to say to stop sharing his line etc using oscam. Im just wondering why this happened and is there any solution to fix the problem. Would there be a problem with the box or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
So the seller of the box contacted you to ask you to stop using id line in oscam, if the seller has forgotten to remove his line from the oscam cam, then it looks like you'll have to do it for him, you need to open your browser on your computer and put the ip address of your box into it, and and [ :8888 ] to the end of it, it should open oscam, then you need to go to files tab, then oscam server file and remove his line
