Hello

I give up drinking beer in December it slowly started to make me ill with my diabetes.

So I've become obsessed with coffee.

I can't afford a bean to coffee machine.

I've tried the pod machines and I like them for a bit then start tasting a tang I can't get rid of. Think it's the powdered milk.

So I've bought a cafeteria, mokka pot, v60 pour over.

I've tried rave coffee and I've had my mind blown. But it's dear at between £7 to £14 for 250grams of coffee.

I've tried from rave coffee.

Chinese coffee. Dongha lovely drinking now
Mexican coffee.
And there house blend chatwood. Proper chocolate notes.

I've never tasted coffee like it.

There is a coffee shop by me that sells coffee too. But open odd time. And always shut when I'm home from work.

But yes this is my new thing to be obsessed over ha 😂

Next purchases gonna be a goose neck kettle and scales that weigh how many grams per second is poured.

I'm landed though as my blood sugar levels have now returned to normal levels of a normal person and I can't wait for my diabetic review next week !!!

Yes got my sugars down to 5-6mmol. Testing myself. Was riding between 7-10mmol for months.

Think drinking was making me struggle. I've drunk alot since I was around 15. I did have a bad spell for a few years were I drank every day for a while too.

So needed to stop. I have slowly been doing it over the year.. from ten cans a weekend, down to 4 or 5 to nothing.

It's been 36 days now no beer and no takeaways. I only had one takeaway a week. But yes decided to try and change it around

Got my 1 year review next week.

We got a sage barista pro at Xmas , so far a great buy , works out approx 30p a cup , from what I have tried so far I prefer the supermarket Coffee beans rather than the fresh ones . Google ‘coffee kev ‘ , he has a 15% discount code for sage machines.

Way out of my price range 😭

I got it for 550 , There’s cheaper similar machines , the sage bambino plus but then you need a grinder, bang that tenner you were spending on cans every week into a coffee jar and you can get one this time next year or if it’s like all my other coffee machines I will be flogging it in 3 months 😁

We got a bean to cup machine at work, got it off amazon warehouse for £160.00 about 2 years ago. I loved my coffee and use to laugh at people in the office when they were making weak ones. On getting a smart watch with heart rate i noticed my heart rate was very high. I gave up caffeine completely, a started drinking decafe tea. It took 7 days of headaches to get it out my system. I have now gone back to normal tea bags but only ever drink decaffe coffee now.

I think we can all learn from this thread.
1. Don't check your blood sugar and drink as much beer as you like, whenever you like, problem solved.
2. Don't check your heart rate and drink as much coffee as you like, whenever you like, problem solved.

Seriously. Enjoy a nice coffee and a nice beer and nice food as often as you possibly can, and don't feel guilty doing it, the only ones unhappy about it are those who want you to live in a plywood box, only surfacing to work, vote and have a piss.

It's become like the new religion, 'thou shalt not XYZ'

It's forced on you in order to make you feel guilty, - covet your neighbour's ass, get drunk, eat burgers, steaks, chocolate and everything else. You live one time, and when it stops, its the big black for a bilion years after that.

No one ever said on their death bed, "I wish I'd eaten more lettuce" or, "if I'd drunk more water instead of coffee and beer, I'd have lived another month"

People don't fall for the religious crap any more, so new ones are being foisted onto people under different guises, but they boil down to the same thing, don't do this, don't do that, this is how you should live etc.

Balls to that shite.

How are you getting on with the beans from there? Do they have a roasted on date or are they done just before dispatch? Looked at a few places now for sub beans but costs an arm n leg when I’m rinsing around 1kg per month give or take depending on how many friends and family call round

Still early days for me , I have had a couple of roasted on dates which are decent but at the moment I prefer the Taylor’s no.4 from the supermarket …I will try others when they are on offer. I got a freebie pack from sage when I got the machine but wasted half of them trying to get the machine set up , at the mo I am on some beans from kev - I ordered them on a Sunday evening- they were roasted on the Monday and I received them on the Wednesday so couldn’t be much fresher …too fresh as Ithink you are supposed to leave them for a week … so answer to question …both , they have a roasted on date and are done just before despatch, wife likes them , I prefer supermarket ones. He’s not bad price wise and if you get his emails you get discount codes . Hardest thing I find is trying to dial in the fresh beans ,I can’t get it like the YouTube vids say ,but the coffee tastes good.

Only problem with a different bean especially if you only get a 250g bag to try. Finally get it dialled in and your hopper is around half full 🤦🏼‍♂️ will definitely give Kev’s a try though, cheers 👍🏼
