Buffer problems with Surfshark

Hi,

what can be the reason for the following problem and did anybody of you have the same problem?

IPTV without Surfshark running totally fine. As soon as I activate the VPN (living in Germany, choose Germany as location in Surfshark) the IPTV stream starts buffering often and stops.

My Internet connection got 100 MBit/s.

Any idea?

If it works fine without a VPN there’s no need for a VPN.

I had issues streaming with one service provider using Surfshark. I previously use NordVPN successfully, but I wanted to trial surfshark’s features - big mistake. They spotted I was running the service through a VPN and blocked my connection. Cause a real hassle trying to solve the issue as even when I switched back to NordVPN, it still wouldn’t work.

Luckily, I was able to resolve the issue. I completely logged out of my account, shut down the app and restarted my box. Then start up NordVPN and logged back in again - all worked fine.

I use surfshark all the time in numerous apps, never an issue

Anyone care to share why they think providers sometimes limit the use of a VPN? I was always under the impression that a VPN would be a good thing for them? Just genuinely curious as to why a provider may say no to it? Is it to prevent account sharing? That's really all I can think of.

I would say account sharing because a vpn assign’s you a different public ip address to one you are assigned by your isp.
But it has been discussed before and is a touchy subject for some.

It makes sense. Like I said it was the only reason I could think of, but I can definitely see why it's a touchy subject for some. Privacy and security to me out weighs the other reasons though, so always good to be able to use one in my opinion.
