Guide A guide to the best boxes for IPTV 2021

For those looking to upgrade from a mag box to a different more modern streaming box, this comment is for you. Been using a mag 254 for a few years now and had to use ethernet with it because speeds would be slow while using it with wifi. Decided to check out the formuler z11 pro and while its great and works well with wifi, the only downside is that for someone that has been using the same iptv provider for a few years, there is a grouping feature that ends up setting the first channel in each group as #1 instead of the SID/Channel#. There is also no all category. For those using multiple iptv services, this may be fine but I am using 1 all the time and have older people so for them its more convenient to switch channels using the channel # instead of selecting the different categories. In this case, I would suggest getting the z10 pro instead. I use it simply for iptv, maybe some youtube and works well for both of them. Don't have any issues with either one of them so definitely would suggest the z10 pro instead of the z11 pro. Feels a bit slow for youtube but since my main concern is iptv, works perfect for that. Never had issues with it buffering while my router is a floor below. Do like the UI and its great than the archaic feel of the magbox.

Do AOSP devices have the 'match content frame rate' option?

Full Android TV only adopted it in version 12, I'm wondering if there's something similar for AOSP devices. i.e. anything that runs on version 12 or beyond will have it etc.

Mine does but I am on Android 11 AOSP. Not sure about Android 12.
Did you try any of the them addons?

Yeah, Coreelec is working well, triggers the HDR. I've only tried it on my monitor yet though

I'll try on the TV this weekend to see how the frame rate matching works.

Ok so if HDR channels are not 4K then how can I tell I’m watching 4K on a OLED Tv??
4k is a resolution just like 1080p, HDR and SDR are video technologies basically telling you how many colors are in the broadcast. Your TV should automatically show a hdr10 or hlg logo when playing a 4k stream on your TV service. 4k can be SDR (bt709) as well. As long as it smooth and you actually see 4K or 3840x2160p that's all that matters. Let the hardware take care of the rest! If the colors are washed out or extremely dark it's likely it's not triggering hdr on your device but you can check if it's hdr through Vlc and it should show Bt 2020 under the media information. Hope this helps!

Sky Sports Main Event UHD and F1 are the two most common 4K channels and they use HDR HLG so you should see a HLG logo in the top right corner an LG Oled. Looking at the Sky forums it looks like there are some issues with Samsung Oleds in case you have a Samsung.

You could press the info button on your remote.
I get this pop up in the top left corner of the screen.
This is what my LG tv reports a 4k HDR HLG iptv channel is.
I have resolution and frame rate switching turned on.
You will need at least resolution switching turned on in device or app settings for your tv to report the correct resolution.

Mine shows 2160p on full hd feeds but I suspect is due to the shield pro upscaling
Your Tivimate shows 2160p on FHD channels? That's strange. Technically even a 720p stream is being upscaled as a 4k feed either by the TV or by your streaming stick. I am talking about native 4k streams not upscaled.

Yeah tivimate is showing the BBC one feed as being fhd 50fps but the LG overlay is showing 2160p.

Was just checking out of interest
