Guide A guide to the best boxes for IPTV 2021

Hello, I have ashamedly contributed nothing to this forum but it was very useful to me in setting up a zgemma h7c with openatv for my sat/terestrial tv needs a few years ago. I would now like to subscribe to a iptv service and have brielfy looked at installing an iptv service on the box but have come up a bit stumped and from reading here it seems most of the reccomendations are to get an android box. My questions are:
1. is the zgemma h7c capable of running an iptv service smoothly with some 4k playback?
2. I also have an apple tv 4k, would this be a viable option? I have serached within this thread and a few posters said its possible but there are limited apps/no vpn's.

I would rather not have to add another box to my tv if at all possible, so would like to use one of the above and have an idea of which one would be better suited.

Thanks in advance

Some providers support zgemma (E2 boxes) but not all the one you have will run Iptv ok with a decent setup. Apple is limited to certain apps a fire stick is the most popular devices and simple to setup.

You can get an iptv sub that will work with that device yes.
If you find you don't like it or it's too clunky you can get an android device and use the same sub on that

Iptv will work on both devices you have

Thanks for all the feedback, I will put a request out for an apple tv sub as that should be easier for me to setup than the e2 box (also don't really want to fiddle with the setup on the e2)

On the Apple TV you can use things like iptvx, amongst others. The Apple TV is an amazing device, iptvx is amazing (when it works..) the dev is a bit of a tinkerer, so it can get buggy at times.

Hi everyone. My only experience with IPTV is sideloading an app on a firestick or chromecast. The experience was not good, so I came to this thread to consider a dedicated box. All good. I'm between BuzzTV and Formuler (there are a ton of them, so I'm still researching what might suit me best). Would you say that one or the other is easier or more "low maintenance" than the other for a noob?

I believe they are similar. I can only speak of formuler but never used buzz. From my experience formuler is low maintenance. Just requires updates which you're notified about and for IPTV you have mytv online app built in. Why was your firestick experience not good?

The app for the service I was using really struggled to do much of anything. Getting to any channel was about a 15 minute process from all the waiting for things to load, and then when I finally got to the channel I wanted, there was a greater than 50% chance the app would just close itself and I'd have to start all over again. I tried a few different services and this happened with each in varying degrees. I don't doubt that there was some user error involved, but that was my experience at any rate.

If you buy a buzz device from @Kuul Media their customer support is very good, they'll work through any issues with you till they're resolved.

If you buy a formuler device, many members on here own them and they'll be happy to offer you any advice you might need to get it running smoothly.

Also, if you buy an iptv sub through this site the seller will help you get it working.

Whichever choice you make, you'll be fine.

Hmm strange to take that long to load a channel. Might be best to try on a smartphone if you own one and try a different WiFi connection or mobile data if you have a decent connection before getting a box. Seem like a firestick or WiFi issue.

If it was taking ages to load to me it sounds like you was using a really old firestick.
I have both formuler and buzz box.
As @m4u stated the formuler boxes really are low maintenance and has its own dedicated app for iptv same with the buzz range.
like puq has mentioned also @Kuul Media media is a forum sponsor and is always on hand for help and support the bottom line tho is what budget do you have to spend on a box I like the formuler cc box as plays everything an iptv sub can offer

I did a free trial last night on a different service and this one used Smarters on my firestick instead of its own app. Worked like an absolute charm compared to what I had used before. Has me wondering if I need a dedicated box after all.

…but I like new toys so I kind of want one anyway :) Plus I don’t like all the ads and pre installed apps on the firestick.

I did notice that some of these boxes are running old-ish versions of android, like android 9, whereas I think current stable android is 13? Would getting something with android 9 versus something with say 11 make any difference in terms of how long the box would be supported or viable?

Pay that bit more and get a Shield will be updated regularly.
Some Users are still on the 2015 version!

Custom launchers don't work on latest versions of Fire and shield experience. But can use an app to change what different buttons on the remote do. I use the netficks or something like that button on my shield to launch iptv
