Hi Chaps’ has anybody tried a Thomson streaming box 270 i know it’s the same as the Onn 4K pro apparently but a EU version kinda swaying between this or the 4K max is on offer for £39.99 on prime deals’ I’m currently using a ATV 4K 3rd gen but kinda getting a bit fed up to be honest and paying for apps tied down i do miss stremio don’t get me wrong it’s a great stb but kinda limited to what you can do unfortunately 😞

That's a great price for the 270 and nothing to do with Amazon! It's Android.
Keep the Apple and get one of those as well!
I think the only app you need to add is iPlayer on it, there's plenty of help with that on the net

Apple TV 4K are lightning fast, but I can see a reason to keep an Android box.
I still run the Shield alongside mine!

Yes i can think of a few but good if you just want tv and happy with supplier vod

There is nothing to say that Google could start doing the same as they can control the OS on Google tv devices.
I personally don’t use devices running Android TV or Google TV but I don’t need official VOD or catchup streaming apps on my device but some do I suppose.
But any of those types of apps run fine directly installed on a smart TVs.

I read that the Vidi app is similar to Stremio on the Apple TV.I did look for it but it's £5 so never went any further as i already have Stremio on the Shield.

Even if they do which i dont think they will. Thete are boxes with there own built in apps Amazon have been fed up with this for years

I dont use a Google account and just sideload the apps i want to use. No downloader or anything on my numerous Android devices.

This way they can not touch what ever android box your using !

Is this still possible i always thought that you couldn’t use a android device unless there is an account linked to it even when you first go through the setup process on ccwgtv or any other android tv device

I don't think you have to have a Google account! Probably best too though, so your legitimate apps can be be updated automatically .
Tbh I rarely use the Shield now as everything is set up on Apple TV,
Her indoors has taken it over with vod.
