Xteve, Threadfin, and other apps for connecting IPTV to Plex

Not sure how helpful my experience is but I was able to get a “Proof of Concept” working using a public m3u list with Threadfin (Docker) connected to PIA through Gluetun (Docker) to my Emby server. The streams that worked didn’t have any pauses or skips over roughly an hour of testing with the Emby Android app on my Hisense TV. There were no UHD streams to test but 1080 and 720 worked well.

Streammaster is an up and coming replacement for Xteve and Threadfin.

I'm trying to get Gluetun -> Streammaster -> Plex working.

Streammaster -> Plex works fine without Gluetun. I have Gluetun and Streammaster working fine. When I add Plex, it sees the channels on Streammaster, but playing video fails. I'm wondering whether anyone can share docker-compose.yml files so I can find what is wrong. You don't need to be using Streammaster. If you have Gluetun with either Xteve or Threadfin working with Plex, I can probably figure it out.

NVM - stream was geo-blocked even though the stream and VPN server were both in the Netherlands.

So i've had a mess about tonight - Stream master seems to constantly reload the M3U - Then restarts downloading it before its finished processing the first time download

Threadfin is going this error -View attachment 111224

Both of these errors may be down to the size of the M3U - I could do with a Supplier who knows how to chop it down - Current one appears to be unable!
So just a wee reply to this ... I manually chopped down my M3U in notepad ... got rid of all the VODs and all the channels I had no interest in

Stream master seems to be working well with the smaller M3U.... ive managed to download the channels and slowly set them up in the order I want them

I've not tried actually streaming with it yet, but I'll get there and update

Now a question I have is .... if the supplier changes the M3U, do I have to go through all this again? Download the updated one, edited the m3u and reorder the channels?

If so, I'll need to find a much better supplier!

If the size is truly the problem, then yes, StreamMaster will update the m3u and choke on it again. My supplier allows me to select the geographic regions that I want to stream. I chose only English-speaking regions. From what I've seen on Discord, StreamMaster may have a bug where it is constantly reloading the m3u every few minutes.

Working from memory, I had set it to update a couple times day .... the epg data wasn't great when only updated once a day ... found it more reliable if it was updated frequently.

Thats probably reloaded the M3U at the same time ....

My service said they had reduced the m3u, but that wasn't the case .... something changed but I'm not sure what, because it was still over 300meg

Have a look at this project Stream Master (GitHub - SenexCrenshaw/StreamMaster) which is a good alternative to threadfin or xteve. It has better UI and much faster than most of the other ones
I have setup this in a docker and I connected it my IPTV provider via m3u url.
It requires a bit setup and basically stream master provides you a local link that replicated as a homerun and in plex you can use that ip to point to your channels.

So i changed the location my M3U comes from and moved over to stream master - This is the first time i set it up
So between this Video, a little bit of experimenting and a bit of time i have stream master up, running and sorted - Channels are in the order i want and the EPGs are working - Most of the EPG come from the same link as the M3U but the few that weren't listed are coming from M3U4U

Hopefully that video will help anybody struggling with streammaster
