Yeah lets just hope michael smith dont bottle it and lets get another new name on the trophy and you never know we might get treated to a 9 darter now smith holds the semi final record for the most 180's thrown and mvg wont like that lol
 
Going for a mvg win tonite but i hope smith wins but just think mvg will be too ruthless with his finishing.
Dont think there will be much difference in the scoring side of the match and smith needs to take out any chance's mvg gives him.
But the way sport has gone in 2018 the impossible is not out of reach.:grin:
 
trouble with smith he can be brilliant one minute pub standard the next. In semi final brilliant first 2 sets then let young Aspinal back into it, cant afford to do that against mvg tonight. Smith can definitely match mvg but not sure over long distance, short distance yes may well out play him but he has this concentration issue and just seems to switch off maybe because game comes natural to him.
Just hope a good close game but think mvg will get on a roll and win easy unless smith starts like he did in semi but keeps it up without any wobbles.
 
Yeah doubles costing him bigtime tonite and such a shame because hes got the game to match mvg but its not coming out tonite ffs :grimacing:
 
Typical ain't MVG/Ando other night was a let down and this isn't much better, mind you saying that it's a bit better than last year's.
 
I dont think anybody has set the oche on fire this year but mvg just seems to grind out the wins when it matters but even then he gives you chances but you have to take them out but smith aint doing it so far which is so frustrating
 
Your right there barring Nathan Aspinall being player of the tournament for me, none of the big names have looked that impressive. MVG always has a mid match dip over the longer formats and Smith didn't capitalise the naff scoring and doubles at the start killed it before it even got going though.
 
Just knew Smith would struggle he has to many times lack of concentration where he doesn't even think of going for the correct trebles to set himself up, has to give himself a chance if opponent misses but he throws likes he's given in sometimes and that's not good enough especially against mvg .
Has purple patches but knew he couldn't sustain it long enough over this distance. Hopefully he will have learnt a lot from this experience and can comeback stronger next year.
