Open A.T.V will be moving to 7.6 in the summer
2025


The new OpenATV 7.6 is based on OpenEmbedded OE5.2 (Walnascar) and brings several important changes.

Key Changes in OpenATV 7.6:

• First OpenATV image with Python 3.13 and OpenSSL 3.4.0.
• Attention: All closed IPK packages delivered only as PYC/SO files are no longer compatible.
• It will likely take several weeks/months for developers to provide updated versions of these closed IPKs.
• Please be patient and do not spam plugin and skin developers with requests – updates will come.
• The final version of OpenATV 7.6 is expected to be released in summer 2025, provided no major issues arise.

What’s new in Python 3.13?

1. Improved performance thanks to an optimized interpreter architecture.
2. Reduced memory consumption while increasing speed.
3. Better support for asynchronous programming and asyncio improvements.
4. Optimized garbage collection for more stable memory management.
5. New built-in functions for easier error handling.
6. Enhanced type hints for better code quality.
7. New exception handling with more detailed error messages.
8. Updated standard libraries, including json, logging, and sqlite3.
9. Better compatibility with modern CPUs, including ARM optimizations.
10. Improved security through encryption updates and OpenSSL integration.

Just a heads up even 7.6 alpha is good and faster ,all my normal plugins work but I have it on other slot .

I'll be happy to put the latest atv on it as long as I can set it up manually
I need help setting it up for uk sat channels
I've not a clue without a build

For anyone reading I had the ipk for whoosh build on my h7c hard drive
I put atv 6.4 on the new H7S and installed wooshbuild perfectly still works fine

I did try for hours with atv 7 but could never get it working how I would like it

Woosh is only compatible with python 2 atv 7 is python 3 do not attempt to use it on anything other than atv 6.4.

Yes no problem
It might only work for the zgemma H7 though I'm not sure
I've had to rar it because it wouldn't let me send as a ipk

It does not matter even if you had what you call wooshbuild it wont work openatv 6.4 is end of life so I even doubt the plugins will even download they will not be in feed but if you realy need the ipk the paste this into your browser ,
or use normal terminal

opkg install http://wbuildx.co.uk/setup.ipk

but you need a mounted usb device.

Yes Pablo I understand here is one person who started of with an openbox and got a zgemma for a mate and through sheer ignorance at the time paid for link to wooshbuild from ebay because I realy did not know much and this seemed ideal at the time now I would advise anyone to just install what ever image they want and just install the plugins you need.

And even now on openatv rather than removing plugins when I install via myrestore.sh it is not really needed if you install your needed plugins or remove ones you do not need when you now install and restore settings from flashonline then said plugins are installed and ones not needed are removed.
I also not long a go found out vix does similar and will also install plugins not from feed but stored on hard drive same as openatv. But used to openatv now even though I think vix is faster.

These E2 boxes are getting less and less without these pre builds available. I noticed tonight the same member has done multiple requests for ipee yet is still using the old zgemma h2s. Some just don't accept things move on in technology.

😆 yes and obviously if for iptv half the new streams won't play don't think I could go back to h2s and to be honest you can pickup faster zgemma boxes now cheaper that what we would have paid originally for h2s. I was actually giver two for free years back from a mate he moved on to a firestick
