Vu+ Duo FBC. How many channels

Hello i'm new here.

Have a question about the VU+ duo
I dont have the VU+ duo receiver yet.
Thinking about getting one. But i cant seem to find the right answer.
I have read about the fbc / unicable setup. Dont have experience with this yet.
I'm wondering if its possible to stream about 40 channels with this box ? Or even more. Just locally from garage to the rooms. Using kodi.

As with all recording and streaming questions, answer is transponders not channels. With FBC and unicable, you can have access to 8 independent transponders. If you use a universal LNB, you are limited to 2 independent transponders, the other 6 tuners can use the planes/quadrant that are in use.

In terms of channels, it depends on how many channels are on each transponder.

To answer your question, yes if you use a unicable LNB/switch.

But i want to learn about it. Its about 5 transponders. 40/50 channels i think.
On Astra 23.5 just one satellite.
So what i get about this is that you request a whole transponder ? Including all channels on it ?
And so i need to have a unicable lnb ? What kind of switch you mean ?

Was also thinking about tvheadend. But if this possible with just the VU+ duo then i think thats a easier less expensive way.

LNB/Switch
You can have a unicable LNB or switch. Choice is yours. An LNB is just an LNB. A switch is connected to an LNB. Some switches will use quattro LNBs, some can use quad, some can use wideband. Your existing setup will determine what is best for you. If you only have one cable to dish, an LNB will be best. If you currently have a wideband LNB, you will obviously I have two wires, a switch may be better as you can just place it where wires come out.

As you mentioned FBC, I am going on premise that you mean a Duo 4K or Duo 4k SE. Not the 15+ year old receiver.

If all your channels are on 5 transponders, than you can record/stream/view all of them. Channels move transponders on satellite quite regularly and it's not a fixed number.

The channels/transponder can be summarised with following examples. In the UK, all HD terrestrial (through an aerial) are on one multiplex. With a single tuner, you can record/view/stream (simultaneously) BBC 1 HD, BBC 2 HD, ITV 1 HD, Channel 4 HD, Channel 5 HD. There are a few more channels on that multiplex.

In Ireland, all the Terrestrial channels are on just 2 multiplexes. So you can record all of them with just 2 tuners.

I have used Terrestrial as examples because it is easier as channels do not move transponders/mutlltilexes as often as satellite.

Hello. Sorry for late answer.
Have been busy. I just installed a Wavefrontier T90.
Now i want to setup the lnb or switch.
I have no other choice than to do it with satellite. But the main channels never really change that much.

I'm going to use quad lnb's for connections with more receivers. What kind of lnb should i use ? on the satellite that i'm going to use to stream channels.
I have seen there are unicable and wideband lnb's. Whats the difference ? Or should i just use a quad lnb and use a switch

This lnb will be on astra 23.5
Mainly i want to have 2 cables to 2 switches.
And then two cables left for the vu+
If i need 2 cables ? Maybe i can just use one cable to the vu+ ? For 5 transponders.

How many satellites will you be receiving on the T90? How many tuners do the other receivers have? Which satellite/s do you access most?

I'm thinking about 11 satellites for now.
42E, 39E, 28.5E, 23,5E, 19,2E, 16E, 13E, 9E, 4.8E, 1.9E, 0.8W.

I will use two 16/1 diseqc switches.
And two octagon sf8008 receivers.

I'm mostly watching. 23.5E, 19.2E, 13E, 9E.

But the VU+ duo that i want to setup to stream some channels will only be connected to astra 23.5 lnb.

Get a unicable LNB with universal outputs. As narrow as possible.

One wire from the Unicable output direct to one of the inputs of the Duo 4K. You can always split it later.

The universal outputs will go to the diseqc switches. You can then send those to other tuners/receivers.
