I haven't used my DRS2 in a good few months, but i'm getting it set up to take to the caravan. I did the OTA update to 1.09 and everything worked really well. My expiry date is November 2024.

Am I right in saying the "VIP" channels shouldn't be working? I thought I had read that I needed to convert my subscription to a VIP one. I didn't do this, but I'm watching SS main event now. Even if it was converted, removing a year should have it expired already. Does this mean I don't need to pay anything else until November? Thanks for any help

VIP are you outside of Europe ?

SP1 is for Europe and the UK channels.

If you subbed to SP1 in November your good to go. If that is the end of a 2 year sub then your can not convert for the UK channels youll need to sub to SP1

Ah right, I'm in UK - must have been reading something related to outside Europe.

I didn't remove any of the bbc's SD's and the other SD's that closed down that have the on screen Lovely message 😆...

Uploaded this to GT media and it's just radio channels

Changed antenna settings / Motor to USALS . And a few lnb to universal and all ok now.

Not sure if anyone has one yet but the Geant GN 2500 Pro 4k looks like same specs as Viark Sat 4k / Gtmedia V8 UHD with it running the Ali2661 but in a more normal shape like the Viark. Might be worth a look if the price is right (although doubt they could get down to Gtmedia prices)

Geant also seem to be releasing a very similar model as the Qviart Dual (guessing both Gosat brands for different markets), folks have already got the Android side running on other boxes but remote and tuner don't work (so currently as much use as a chocolate fireguard, but they're working on it).
 
Was going to do a software update on viark sat 4k. done a backup channel list but does it backup favorites list as well .also is it worth updating to software 1.18 on viark sat 4k

It will backup your favourites also.

Youll need 1.18 as when the uk stuff comes back i dont think anything lower will work.
 
I Having some viewing problems black screen Information pop up says encrypted program with a load of letters and numbers if i reboot the box the channel will appear but when i channel hop i get the message pop up on screen again . I have the gt-media V8UHD box with mars sp1 ,Looking into the about STB in settings my H/W VERSION OS V1.0.3
S/W Version V1.10.8588 .. Oct 31 2023 .. Does my box need a update ? I updated through the app on box in past but no new update showing this time ..

Most UK channels are offline still as far as i'm aware that's the reason your getting encrypted program.

Cheers mate I have been away for a few weeks , Can you tell me also is my box up to date ? and why the load of numbers on tv screen along side encrypted messages I have never seen the numbers and letters before . Thanks
 
So I`m watching sysports main event I channel change then get the pop up message on tv screen i go back to main event and the message is there again Channel don`t clear but when i reboot the box or just go into the menu screen and go back to a pay channel it will clear .. Weird ..
 
That encrypted message usually includes your box ID, that's the code that's showing. Some channels are showing some aren't. Sometimes I would get the same issue you had before they started to disappear, i.e. if I go directly to the channel I'll get the message, but if I go back and forth it'll start working again. I think that's just a glitch. Main Event is one of the channels that's working now, but lots still encrypted like TNT
 
I always find it ironic that Forever / Apollo / Mars are having to do the same thing showing their box ID on the screen same as what Sky did to try and figure out what source is used for IPTV streams and if it's coming from them.

I figured I'd try one of the old Geant Android boxes and the bloody number comes up everywhere!

No honour among thieves 😂

I've never actually seen a code on my viark or gt media yet , though mines is only only for a game then straight off , maybe try have some trigger if the box is on alot?
 
I think I'm seeing it more at the mo as a lot of channels are off, have to admit haven't seen it on a channel yet.

Did a lot of surfing across the arc this weekend, it dropped onto one filth channel after a scan, neighbours were stood in their garden and could see in, they must have got an eyeful at that channel change 😂
