V8s no signal on some channels

Goodtimes

Newbie
Hi guys, help and advice appreciated.

Been using an v8s for around 5 months with no issues. Had decent signal on all channels.

Suddenly I've lost a few channels with no signal displaying 10% SNR.
Sky sports are lost all but still have ss2 and BT Sport. Still have sky movies except sky hits. Most kids channels are gone. I had read about some boxes not displayang vertical channels but mine seems a bit random in what channels have lost signal.

So far I have -
Unplugged box and rebooted
Deleted channels and did blind scan
Tried a friends fully working box at my house. Didn't fix it.
I'm now looking at the sky dish/lnb/cable as the root of the issue. Cable at lnb seems in good condition. I've loosened the lnb and dish and slowly tried it in different positions. I still can't get any improvement on the 10% SNR on the channels that lost signal. It's cracking me up. .
Am I overlooking something here? Thanks for any help in advance ☺ mog

Hi linesman, I wasn't aware of this. I've since deleted channels again and input recent channel list through memory stick. However I'm not sure how you update channels through network? Thanks

Ok if you you go into the openbox form you can download the firmware openboxv8s. network transfer onto your formated u.s.b stick then press menu scroll across to tools update by u.s.b under image file you will see the firmware update select and upgrade you will be asked do you want to make changes select yes the firmware will update box wil reboot any future channel updates can be done by the network menu scroll across to network settings scroll down to update by the network then press ok on connect select tbsprog UK box will reboot with new channel update

Cheers reaper. Just went on site to update and am now able to update over network also.

Channels still showing no signal and 10% SNR though. Have all FTA and a random selection of sky channels.

Just tried my box at my parents house. Plugged it in and worked perfectly. All channels with strong signal.

Does this suggest the issue lies with my dish? I'm not sure how old it is as it was here when we moved in 2 yrs ago. On inspection the dish was secured well, cable looks in good nick. I did swap the cables into the spare ports on the lnb but made no difference. Thanks ☺ mog

As suggested, your dish may be slightly out of alignment due to the recent bad weather.
You can either use a satmeter, smart phone app, wife or girfriend or a hammer to tweak the dish.If you have your fta channels and a few sky this is an indication that the dish needs a few mm to the left when looking towards front of dish [ie facing dish]

Hi had the same issue with a friends box, decided to bring it home and try on my set up and worked fine so presuming his dish was very slightly out of alignment

Thanks guys. Tried a cheap meter on it today. Still can't pick up these lost channels. Is chucking it down and windy so I'll leave it until this weather calms down. Got myself a cheap CSL sat finder hope it is up to the job

OK guys finally got up the ladder. The dish seemed very secure so I didn't feel it could have moved much, if at all.
Anyway, with the meter I slowly tried improving my signal quality. The strange thing is, I managed to improve the quality % wise on channels that were already unaffected. The channels which I had lost still displayed 45% strength and 10% quality. Theven SNR on these channels did not budge at all. I've felt I've allifeed the dish as good as I possibly can now. I'm at a loss

Did you check your elevation angle it usually sets at 20degrees there is a scale at the side of the dish did you check your skew angle of the lnb That could be the slight adjustment you need to increase the s.n.r

Hi, I did check elevation along wth lnb skew. Managed to get a good quality signal except on those I had lost previously. It's very strange. If the signal got worse or improved on my lost channels at least i would feel there was something to work with. Every other channel I can tweak but the lost ones are just dead set on 10% SNR

Hi are the weak s.n.r channels on the vertical or horizontal side of the t.p list
