usb greyed out . How do you get to work?

Hi complete noob here, how do to switch on usb?

Only a branded stick. Have you tried USB ports front and back?

:) Thats better! Load up an old 8gb stick and it worked.....but why?.Surely memory is memory (apart chinese "memory"). Anyway thanks for the help Bigdrinks and span123
