Unrealistic expectations?!

I quite enjoyed it when new members were by invite only. I take it that's finished now?
Nearly every new member is requesting IPTV within 2 minutes of joining.
I'm not even going to bother saying hello to the newbies anymore when I know they will only ever request subs and not get involved in the forum at all.

Membership was completely closed for a few weeks while the invite thing was sorted out
Have a read of this post, it explains how one can become a member.

I know what you mean about welcoming people, but they are not all the same, I know of about 5 members (myself included) only signed up to get the keys for cable TV back in 2014, and here we are 9 years later. Some arrive to get specific problems sorted, then stop, some get the bug and stay.
I thought that only just started?

It has only started

I can't see all these newbs wanting IPTV have been invited.
If a member here mentioned IPTV to his brother/dad/mate etc they would get it through that member, they wouldn't join and ask themselves. These newbs aren't known to anyone
You can purchase a membership, read the post I linked to willow just above.

I think you have to pay a £5 fee so that the forum has your details, or is that away too?
Have a read if the post by HT linked above, it's all explained

The problem is that people with a problem are unlikely to pay for an invite link and they're the ones who would be more likely to take an interest and get involved with the forum.
At the moment almost every new member has joined solely to get an IPTV sub. As @jigger121 hinted, probably with their joining fee funded by sly 🤔

I still prefer the idea of new members needing to get involved a bit and make a contribution ..... say 20 or 30 posts for example.
I think a lot of the forums have now been locked down well enough with zero post counts to deter them from posting 💩 to achieve the required number. (and I would be watching them! 👺)

Easy to criticise when you're not the ones making the decisions. If the site owner and mods have decided that this is a good way to permit members then it must be the best way. These kind of forums don't fund themselves, and on top of that the guys who run it and those who are no longer with us have put a huge amount of hours in with their main reward being that they've saved us lots money.

Huge thanks as always to @HiTecK @wheelo and @Ferret.

A newbie here who firstly also first just registered to get a sub.

I think it is fair, to just join for getting the sub, since it is really hard to get something good, which you can easily find on Google or Youtube or so.

Regarding the unrealistic expectations, I think for a lot of newbies it is hard to know what is realistic and what not (including me). I think services like Netflix, Prime and so on makes most people believe that it should be normal to deliver FHD - 4K services with low latency and high speed. What would help, is a must read before posting to set the right expectations. I am scrolling right now, through the forum and finding a lot of informative posts and also helping me to get a clearer picture of IPTV.

Agree to a point but no forum can be successful without knowledgeable members.

But as mentioned most join here for a sub or to get a problem sorted they have no intention of contributing.

Some forums exist simply to sell iptv it is owned by a server owner I suppose that is what makes TK different.

You can tell by posts. They will ask a bit about boxes and apps then they will make a request for a sub once year and have been for a few years

I'll be honest I'm not entirely happy with charging members to join. It is in testing and the idea behind it was with invites, that you could sort of trust a new member asking for a sub. And my idea was if we charge enough for people serious about a sub it would be worth it for them to pay it and contribute to us moving towards less dependence on AdSense. I would have their PayPal details should they keep joining up with fake accounts.

The idea was put in place to protect you sellers. I'm more than happy to turn it off and let invites come in only. But then you'll see you won't sell anywhere near as much and you lot will still be paranoid.

I can't revolve this place around sellers. It's a community forum that needs a registration system that doesn't only let in people that need sat/IPTV.

The forum is quite popular on Reddit and is often recommended to those looking for a good iptv service. Lots of folk will have found their way here from Reddit either via a legit invite or a paid one.

Personally I think the unrealistic part of the thread is unrealistic! I originally came for help when I purchased an old Zgemma and when I asked the seller about setting it up he sent me a link to TK.
I think people coming solely for subs is ok! But perhaps just ask for a sub with what box and specify Sports series vod etc. I'm sure the sellers can explain what they have to offer(4k ,raw stream 3pm etc

Tbh sellers need be dubious on who they offer too it’s all down to common sense.
Some members do join just for subs and that’s there choice same with people who join just to get images for there boxes.
Whether it’s invite only or paid to join the powers that be will always pay and pass on the link etc and will always have the funds to pay.
In reality every seller should know what to look out for who to offer to but 99.9% of the sellers would rather chase money then be cautious as they know if one service goes tits up they will always have a service to sell.
Same as I always say if a service is good as they make out then they won’t need to sell to randomers as recommendations goes along way.

that’s how I joined tk as needed to reflags my box and my sat server guy was in turkey on holiday and sent me link to join so I could learn how to flash my box and add my sat line back on.
That was when whoosh was very popular and running the star 2s and the h2s and the open box lol

Brings back good memories you was just a puppy then old Moshe got you going 😂😂😂

I think most would be stuck using a enigma 2 box like we did back in the day. Most rely on pre- built images which teaches you nothing really.

I forget the reason I joined but the members I learnt stuff off have long gone. I was a member before Moshis mate Colin who loved sky boxes I think.

As for Mr bazz I agree with his comments to a point eventually a service will sell its self but you need a core customer base first.

I personally am not bothered if it's paid or invite that is upto mods to decide but I suppose.

I know some forums if you want to sell you must supply the mods with a free sub incase of any disputes.

Well for me forum are about sharing information if you are willing to learn not to be spoon fed ulike what it seems like now been member here since 2016 even though out of the scene for a few years since perhaps d2mac days then when you could program sly cards and on digital did not even know about IPTV even though I was getting it via kodi.

So for me every day is a learning day and if possible help out other members if possible even with the little knowledge I have compaired to some of other members here and on other forums.

I wanted to use paid membership to buy a a unique style for the forum you're talking a grand for that alone. I also want to move away from AdSense so we can do what we want to do. You don't realise the restriction in place because we have to abide by their rules.
You wouldn't believe how much the server costs each month to keep this place going. I have over the years dipped into my own money to keep the place online. The minute I try to get ahead we get members complaining so I will make it invite only and we will carry on as normal.

I think most overthinking in this thread tbh

New members are likely to copy and paste request especially when they see 4k etc thinking it's normal to request

Some of the spy posts are comical at times. If a seller sees a request they don't like don't pm simple as that

@HiTecK run it as you see fit to as you need to do what you think is best to keep the forum running

Personally I don't think anyone had an issue with how it is run. I think people were just worried that a loophole was found due to the many people signing up and straight to the request thread or that someone was potentially abusing the invite codes
We've all been In the same boat, in fact I've signed up to alot of forums and not posted or contributed much on them.
Where as in here I've always found it friendly and incredibly easy to use and would like to help continue that by helping Where I can

I really don't like that, you shouldn't be out of pocket to run a site that saves people money. Just a suggestion, but is there any way you could set it up so anyone who sells iptv here has to be a forum supporter?

Also, is it worth running a once a year raffle that raises funds for the forum?
