Testing a used motor

Plug it into your receiver and see if the led comes on it (if it's got one) and try and drive it left / right with buttons if it has them.

Should work with openbox but ive never tried one
If you hear a click sounds like it has power it may be seized the gears can get worn out

Button on motor not working just a click no movement. Will it work on a openbox dave100 ??
Connect motor to the openbox, go to "Menu" - "Installation" - "Antenna Setup" - "Motor Type", change to "DiSEqC1.2", then OK on "Motor Setting" then "Position Setting", then go down to where it says "Save" & press right or left arrow on the remote to see if the motor moves.

So there's a light on the motor - when you try driving it east or west with the buttons on the motor, does the light stay on or go out?

Ok, I know with some receivers, they don't have the power to drive the motor and when you press the button, the power cuts to the motor (no lights) but this doesn't seem the case with this one.

If it's an old motor, it might have plastic running gear inside - this can sometimes wear but no harm in opening it up and seeing if anything is obvious... nothing to lose.
