Install vanilla vix and just install the plugins you need, keep it plain and simple to get it working properly then you can experiment with skins if you prefer to look at the skin all night rather than the programs.👍
The one you are using willobuild. Just don't go installing outdated plugins and skin's. Download the different skins from the feeds.
How do i go about downloading the sky skin from the server ? can you do it directly from the reciever?
you should find them in the downloadable plugins list on the box.

You can't install those skins from the feeds on that box, you have to install from the ipk, upload it to .tmp folder then install manually using the remote
