Samsung Galaxy A70 screen replacement

Hi

I have a cracked screen for the above model and despite it being really old it's very sentimental due to it being a family members phone and don't want to get rid of it.

I have looked on eBay but there's so many screen replacements on eBay I'm confused and overwhelmed which I need which will at least work and last.

Can anyone advise which replacement screen I would need for the A70 model?

Thanks.

There are many different models of each samsung, to find out which you have, go to settings, then down to the very bottom, then about phone.
In there is the model number - it won't be a70, it might be SM-X210 or something like that.
If you tell us that No. We can help find the right screen.
Failing that, over here, the little Chinese shops replace them for around €50, so i suppose around £40?over the water.
(The reason for the different model numbers can be year of release, needing to release different versions for Europe than US, 4G versus 5G version etc)

Ye that won't be possible as due to the cracked screen it doesn't even turn on now.

On the back of the phone under the CE logo you should see the phone information e.g SM-A705FN/DS

'Check the back of your phone
Your phone can't turn on and you need to find out the model number. Don't worry. Samsung prints the name and model number of their phones on the back at the bottom in a very small font underneath where it says "Designed & Engineered by Samsung.”

Have you got an old phone with a removable battery? Just turn off your phone, take out the battery and your model number should be on a sticker on the battery.

Check your Samsung account
If you have an account registered with Samsung, you can check what phone you have and all the information you'd find on your phone settings app on your account online. This is useful if your phone won't turn on and you can't read the model number from the back of your phone. '

Can't open the phone at all. Sealed at the back so can't find the exact model. Nor is this anything on the back cover.

I have seen generic screen replacements on eBay for around £20 are those any good?

Phone shop near me wants £90 for these screen which for how old the phone is is tol much imo. Albeit it is a genuine screen not a copy like most online.

So, I'll presume it's smashed, not just cracked? Cracked screens will generally turn on.

Are you sure the inside hasn't been messed up, ie. Will it turn on with a replaced screen?

With a brief look around it would seem that all the screens are compatible, but do be aware that when you search for A70, sometimes the result is A7050, and other similar numbers.
Is one screen better than another? I'd say probably not, but the only way I, or any other member would know is by having had one and replaced a screen a couple of times.

The store you say will replace it for £90 with a original screen, I'd suggest that they, or another of the Chinese stores would replace it for a lot less than that with a spurious screen.

Not really sure of the state of the inside

Also think the charging port has become faulty too.

Yes they would replace with a generic screen for much less.

The guy I spoke to did say there's a alot of issues with these generic screens compared to the original screens. But this could just be sales talk from him.

For such an old phone it isn't worth it and I personally would have gotten rid of the phone but it's too sentimental for a family member that they want me to get it fixed.

By the time you factor in the heatgun, pry tools, clamps, adhesive and the cost of the screen and the knowledge of what you're doing. Unless you have these sitting about and are very competent, for the saving of potentially around £50 (for a genuine screen compared to older screen). I would let the repair shop do it whilst asking them to replace the battery to be like a new phone

What's the sentimental part? Is it that there's photos on it? If so, attach it to your computer and download them.
I can't imagine any other sentimental attachment to a phone, which is why I back up photos to the cloud in case of theft or catastrophic failure.
I'd go for the generic screen from shop rather than genuine as it won't be long for this earth, I imagine

It was a family members phone who is not longer with us anymore.

Not just the photos but the phone itself means a lot and family member using it currently doesn't want to throw it away but to repair it.

Not worth it at all with how old this phone is and how much it will cost but have no choice but to get it repaired.
