Recording IPTV. Do you have a reliable way to do it.

Hi,

I've had mixed results when recording over the years as I like to record 1st and use the catchup as a backup. I use a Formuler Z10 box and I had it set to record from MTVO2 to my NAS but this was hit and miss as it would stop and as it was usually in the middle of the night I didn't know if the stream had froze or something going on with the network. Recording was worse when using Tivimate as it would say it recorded the whole time of the program, E.G 1 hour but when going to watch it it would only have say 15 mins available so from my experience Tivimate was the worst for me.
Currently using MTVO2 with a 256GB SSD hanging off the back of it and touch wood this now seems to work fine for me although I did find that some USB devices would detach themselves for the box for reasons unknown. I have never told a provider I am recording and have been able to record with all the providers I have used over the years.
Hope this helps.

Never needed to bother myself my supplier has all main stuff on catchup and replays. But to be really honest never use them. Never tested recording on formuler box.

Did when had a sheild found the tv version better witch recorded to sd card

So does this method work or not?
I use ATV, but I assume the procedure will be the same
there is an option on vix to change stream types for recording iptv , but even on openatv i have no problems recording iptv even with 4096 with one account as long as a start recording then go to another provider or normal sat or terrestrial channel when recording is in progress. but as you should know iptv not always perfect if internet or stream can stop

two streams recording at the moment as example from two different providers. I would say that is the benefits of a enigma2 device you can just have all providers on screen and move between them unlike some android players where you need to log out to go to another.

I wouldn't say recording is reliable all the time same as catchup. Let's face it loads of stuff repeated on sky anyway

Just thought the logical option enigma 2 would be better due to inbuilt hardrive.

The OP can't get catchup on every channel, most people can't, only the major sports and other popular channels. He's trying to record some obscure US channel so catchup is out of the question
