Openbox V8 PRO

After originally having a openbox v8s I decided to try the openbox v8 pro and I have to say it's a great value box ,which after some playing around with the settings I'm now running sat and vm (HD).
although no channel list as yet , you can put your channels in favourites so easy to browse the channels :-)
all in all its a great box for a great price
 
Well it needs improving but I've been splitting channels into categories so it's fine for me but I'm sure that will be sorted in time
 
It's totally different---it's satellite---cable---terrestrial---iptv----webtv all rolled into qne little box about the size of a Dreambox 500.
If you don't know what it is or does then don't buy it.

many thanks reaper for your help am just beginning to realise how clever this little box is you can do your own favs.and many more things am still learning

How to update latest firmware via USB key
[Ensure you have a copy of your line as this upgrade and others may default your box]


1] Format usb key to FAT32
2] Add .bin file to key
3] Turn box to fta channel [not hd]
4] Insert key in side usb port.
5] Menu--tools--usb upgrade
6] Select "all code"
7] Select correct file
8] Start upgrade
9] Box will auto boot when finished.

Do not power box off until it has completely finished and fully rebooted.
Go menu--satellite list---tick 15 [Sky]----press blue on remote and scan.
When scan complete---stay on fta channel--go menu---channel list---press blue on remote to edit---on next screen press red on remote---click on name[A-Z]---press exit[save] and exit again to channel.
Now if necessary, reinstall your line, reboot and back to normal.

Hi Reaper,

Any idea how I can update channel list "user_db.bin" on Openbox V8 Pro?
I was given the file "user_db.bin" from my box supplier, when I try update through USB, the file is not recognised.

tried this today as well with no joy, but then again I'm using cable, is everything just for sat lol
 
There are no channel lists for the PRO---it's an editor.
Yes Garyth, the box was originally designed for sat and cable added as an afterthought. I have the original combi---bigger---more awkward and sat/terrestrial only.The support site has plenty of info --if you go to the download side and open instructions there you will find pdf's to download.

do not use update as I updated with latest software said update successful rebooted itself and everything was wiped had to reinstall
also changed sat.
 
I can confirm it is mate , I can help anyone struggling set up a NLine for cable and sat later and also how to find the channels
