Is everyone up for banning LED car headlights ?. I'm struggling to drive of a night through them, saying that, most cars drive around with them on 24/7.
The other week a 4x4 came towards me over a brew and I kid you not the inside of my car lit up like I was been abducted by aliens, I literally lost track of the road for 2-3 seconds very dangerous.

They need banning asap bring back halogen simple as. I was talking to a mechanic who does MOTs he said another problem is older cars using newer brighter LEDs. He said what the owner doesn't understand is, the chrome reflector was designed for halogen bulbs so they tend to make things far brighter so when a bulb blows they think "I know what, I'll put these LEDs in" not realising their turning their car into an A350 landing gear light.

I've noticed of late some are even brighter than ever, even driving up behind some new cars full brake lights right round the boot just a joke. All's they have to do is lower the wattage and the lumen of any permitted bulb and they must be warm light not bright white light, plus it has to be done at your next MOT.

I've started wacking full beam on when someone with super brights takes me out

Just to add to this why do emergency services need there lights so bright. I get it emergency services and all that but come these f####r/s blind you.
 
I live on a main road the emergency services light up the bedroom when its dark. sometimes they don't have sirens on but the blue lights, like a disco 🕺💃
 
The simplest and easiest way is to add a lumen test and limit the brightness at the MOT stage. Basically everyone will have plenty time to do it. A simple gadget will say how bright they can be and make people change them to warm light not bright white. Some of the bigger cars are so fookin bright your cab gets whiteout.
 
When im driving and someone has those LED lights i literally am driving blind i cant see a single thing its crazy
 
wow I thought it was my old age!! Why are they made so bright? Is it not easy to measure the output and then adjust? They are LEDS after all.

Nope not just you, on the motorway i'm driving blind most of the journey because of them, especially when its super dark
 
I see two factors contributing to the problem. First, the increasing number of lights inside the vehicle pointing at the driver. From infotainment screens to bright dash instruments, these inward-facing lights affect the driver's ability to see outside into the darkness, necessitating brighter exterior lights.

Second, improperly aligned aftermarket LED lights contribute significantly to the problem. If not properly aligned, the brighter LED lights will cause visibility issues for other drivers.

Another factor, here in the US, is our government's antiquated regulations around headlights. We need to allow for innovation in headlight design to allow engineers to create headlights that both illuminate the road effectively but do not shine into the eyes of other drivers.
