Cool project I am working on
I have a crazy friend who has a barn that he is converting into a machine shop. The problem is that it's residential space and he doesn't have 3 phase 480V electricity.
Solution? Most people would think to do a rotary phase converter + Transformer. Some (sane) people might just get a shop nearby that has all that. Not this guy.
He is taking a bunch of automotive, high voltage batteries and hooking them into a 50kW and 30kW inverter.
Currently 850 kWh of capacity, with 60+ kw solar array to charge it all. Currently, he has dozen or so batteries, and has a plan to get over 20 batteries
This will be powering mainly a 5 axis CNC machine.
I am writing the software for it. Mostly vibe-coded because I'm lazy and don't have a bunch of time, but all pretty cool
