HDMI 2.2 will be announced next month — and it may require a new cable

Think we'll be ok , I'll just get a Amazon basics. Oh and the hardware too.

Nothing new always the way. Just don't break the bank
I have never seen a bigger scam in my life than "premium 4k hdmi cables" sold by the likes of Currys for about £100. Like you say all Amazon basic cables are certified and do the job.

I always feel sorry for the poor buggers who get dumped into that BS when buying a TV who are not tech savvy.

Poundland HDMI, same as every other HDMI lead on earth.
Anyone who believes there's varying qualities of hdmi is off their rocker, it's like saying their shower is better because they've used expensive copper water pipes rather than cheap copper pipes.
It connects one thing to another thing.
It either works or it doesn't.
It can't work better or worse

Of course there are differences pabs a certified lead guarantees certain speeds. To a naked eye can you tell the difference NO

But is noticeable on enthrtnet cables.

They're all certified, HDMI that is, not sure about enthrtnet (sic) cables, but an ethernet cable is the same as the next one, it's copper strands, you can cover them with gold or platinum and charge someone 10 times the price but it won't make the slightest difference to the end user

What about if you needed a long cable, would the guage of the wire effect it somewhat?
I know it can effect USB phone charging, not sure about HDMI? :)

I buy all my cables from monoprice. Audio cables, display cables all of them. Been using them forever, so I'm sure Amazon basics or someone else is just as good, but they've been my go to for so long I don't think about anything else.

That's it they are not the cheap £5 ones. They are clearly marked if they are

I am off my rocker and know there is a difference with some cables , i have a few here that dont show a crisp clear picture but a softer less sharp picture.
I did pay mad money for some.

I always use the Amazon basics premium ones and I've had zero issues over the years other than when the plasterer got the ends wet, that was fun with them being buried in the wall.

I don't buy cheapest or use standard supplied normally a certified HDMI and eithernet cable
Anything works for me and i've never had any problems, i remember the days of friends buying £1000 hifi interconnects and thinking i was the mad one because i didn't!

if your a purist then spending more money on Analogue cables can improve things , digital cables don’t need to be expensive though I do shy away from the very cheapest
